1. India-US Trade Talks in New Delhi
   India and the United States will hold trade talks in New Delhi. This follows the U.S. imposing steep tariffs (up to 50%) on Indian exports due to India’s continued purchase of Russian oil.

2. Engineers’ Day 2025
   India is observing Engineers’ Day in memory of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. The day reinforces the importance of engineering, innovation, infrastructure and nation-building.

3. Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) in Kolkata
   Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the three-day Combined Commanders’ Conference in Kolkata (Eastern Command headquarters, Vijay Durg). Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chiefs of Army, Navy, Air Force are present. The theme is “Year of Reforms ­– Transforming for the Future”, with focus on operational preparedness and strategic/military coordination.

4. Monsoon Withdrawal & Heavy Rain Warnings
   IMD forecasts the monsoon’s withdrawal beginning ~15 September from parts of west Rajasthan, slightly earlier than usual. Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rainfall warnings are out for Maharashtra and states like Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, parts of Madhya Pradesh, due to a low pressure area over Bay of Bengal.

5. Rupee Under Pressure Amid Fed Uncertainty and Tariff Worries
   The Indian rupee is facing downward pressure because of uncertainty about the expected upcoming U.S. Federal Reserve rate cut, concerns over U.S. trade tariffs, particularly the additional ones imposed on Indian exports. The currency recently hit new lows.

6. India-EU FTA: 14th Round of Negotiations Scheduled
   The 14th round of negotiations for a proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union is to be held in Brussels from October 6-10, 2025

7. Major Political / Electoral Activity in Bihar

   • PM Modi at a rally in Purnea (Bihar) launched development projects worth ~₹36,000 crore. Also inaugurated a newly developed airport terminal in Purnea

   • Announced formation of a National Makhana Board to benefit farmers.

   • Made political remarks about opposition parties (RJD, Congress) in context of upcoming Bihar elections.

8. Supreme Court’s Decision on Waqf Act
   The Supreme Court refused to issue a blanket stay on the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, but imposed some partial restrictions on key provisions.

9. Doordarshan’s 66th Foundation Day
   Doordarshan will celebrate its 66th foundation day (it began as an experimental television service under All India Radio in 1959). The event “Shabdanjali: DD@66” will be held at Rang Bhawan, Akashvani Bhawan, New Delhi.
