India–Bhutan Energy Tie-Up

 

India has extended a ₹4,000 crore concessional line of credit to Bhutan to fund energy projects.

This was announced while inaugurating the 1,020 MW Punatsangchhu-II hydropower project, which was built with Indian assistance.

As part of the visit, PM Modi also promised to complete two India-Bhutan rail links (Gelephu and Samtse).

New Strategic Airbase Operationalised in Ladakh

The IAF has operationalised its Mudh-Nyoma (Nyoma) airbase in eastern Ladakh.

Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh landed a C-130J aircraft there for the inauguration.

The airbase is at a very high altitude (~13,700 feet) and is capable of hosting fighter aircraft, transport planes, and helicopters.

It strengthens India’s air infrastructure on the sensitive China border / LAC.

Defence Procurement – Anti-Tank Missiles

The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract worth ₹2,095 crore with Bharat Dynamics Ltd (BDL) to procure INVAR anti-tank guided missiles.

These missiles are laser-guided, have a high hit probability, and will be mounted on T-90 tanks, significantly boosting their firepower.

The deal is under the “Buy (Indian)” category, supporting indigenous defence manufacturing.

Miscellaneous / Important Day

International Day for Tolerance is observed on 16th November.

National Press Day (India) also falls on 16th November.

According to WHO’s Global TB Report 2025, India’s TB incidence has declined by 21% since 2015, though India has missed its target to eliminate TB by 2025.
