  • The Reserve bank of India (RBI) approved the appointment of Praveen Achuthan Kutty as the managing director and chief executive officer of DCB bank.
  • The appointment is for a period of three years with effect from April 29, 2024.
  • Praveen Achuthan Kutty has over 32 years of experience in all aspects of Retail & SME banking.

2. Tourism Ministry to organize annual event “Bharat Parv”

  • The Ministry of Tourism will organize the nine day annual event ‘Bharat Parv’ at the Lawns and Gyan Path in front of Red Fort, Delhi as part of the Republic Day celebrations.
  • This year, it is being celebrated from 23rd to 31st January.
  • The highlights of the mega event are the Republic Day Parade tableaux, dynamic cultural performances by the Zonal Cultural Centres and engaging presentations by cultural troupes from various States and Union Territories.

3. PVR INOX to live broadcast Ram temple consecration ceremony in cinema halls

  • Leading multiplex chain PVR INOX on Friday announced that it will be hosting the live broadcast of the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, in its theatres
  • The temple spread over 70 acres will be open to the public after the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol on January 22.
  • The theatre chain will broadcast the ceremony live in partnership with news channel Aaj Tak in over 160 cinemas in more than 770 cities across India.

4. Union Minister V Muraleedharan to represent India at G-77 3rd South Summit

  • Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan will be on a three-day visit to Kampala in Uganda from Saturday to participate in the Third South Summit of the Group of 77 and China (G-77).
  • The theme of the Summit, “Leaving No One Behind”, is in line with India’s vision of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – the World is one Family.
  • Leaders of this cross-regional group will meet with the aim of strengthening cooperation among its 134 Member States.

5. 75th Republic Day parade to be women-centric

  • With the themes of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat – Loktantra ki Matruka’, the 75th Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path on 26th January will be women-centric.
  • For the first time, the parade will be heralded by 100 women artists playing Indian musical instruments.
  • The parade would commence with the music of Sankh, Naadswaram, Nagada to be played by women artists.
  • The parade will also witness an all-women Tri-Service contingent marching down Kartavya Path for the first time.
