Heavy Rain / School Closures in Maharashtra
Mumbai and districts like Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Nashik and Pune experienced intense rains. IMD issued red alerts in many areas. As a precaution, schools in Palghar were ordered shut. -
Chandigarh Chief Secretary Transferred
Rajeev Verma, currently Chief Secretary of Chandigarh, has been transferred to New Delhi to take the role of Chief Secretary of GNCTD (Delhi), effective 1 October 2025. -

A march titled Constitution Satyagraha Padyatra was launched from Deekshabhoomi, Nagpur, and will conclude at Sevagram Ashram on 2 October (Gandhi’s birth anniversary). It’s aimed at promoting constitutional values like equality, justice, non-violence etc. -
Bank Holiday for Maha Saptami
On 29 September 2025, banks in several Indian states remain closed in observance of Maha Saptami (part of Durga Puja festivities). In other states, banks are open as usual. -
Maritime Simulation Centre & ISTC Inaugurated
Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated India’s first Maritime Simulation Centre at AMET (Chennai) and virtually inaugurated the Indian Ship Technology Centre (ISTC) in Visakhapatnam. -
GoI to Discard Paper Arrival Cards for Foreigners (from 1 October 2025)
The central government has approved removal of paper arrival (immigration) cards for foreign nationals arriving into India, from 1 October 2025 onwards.
