New ICG Fast Patrol Vessel “Akshar” commissioned
The Indian Coast Guard commissioned ICGS Akshar at Karaikal, Puducherry. It is the second in the Adamya-series of fast patrol vessels, built by Goa Shipyard with over 60% indigenous content.
Jaishankar on evolving nature of warfare / India’s strategic posture
At the Kautilya Economic Conclave in New Delhi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said modern conflicts increasingly take the form of “contactless wars” — leveraging trade, supply chains, tech, finance, etc. He emphasized India’s strategy must rest on internal capabilities, structural resilience, and not being overly dependent on any single partner.
He also drew “red lines” in the ongoing India-US trade negotiations, indicating Delhi will resist deals that undermine core interests.
Mumbai High Court order on illegal detention
The Bombay High Court directed Maharashtra to pay ₹1 lakh in compensation in a case of “illegal detention,” stating that an arrest inherently brings humiliation and lasting impact.
Heavy rains, landslides in Darjeeling / North Bengal
Catastrophic rainfall led to landslides in Darjeeling and surrounding districts. Several killed, many missing; major damage to infrastructure and roads. The central & state governments announced relief operations. PM Modi and other leaders expressed condolences.

India–China to resume direct flights
After a 5-year suspension, India and China plan to resume direct air connectivity by late October, pending airline decisions. The Kolkata–Guangzhou route is among those likely to restart.
