India to roll out biometric authentication for UPI payments from 8 October
The Reserve Bank of India has mandated that from 8 October onwards, UPI users may authenticate transactions using biometric methods (face or fingerprint) instead of PINs.

World Bank warns U.S. tariffs will slow growth in South Asia
The World Bank has projected that South Asia’s economic growth will decelerate to ~5.8 % in 2026 (from 6.6 % in 2025), attributing much of the drag to high U.S. tariffs on Indian exports.
