District Admin Ramban bans operation of Illegal News Portals
Concerned about the dissemination of fake news, the administration of Ramban on Tuesday imposed a ban on the operation of news sites that are illegal within the district.
Based on data gathered by the District Information Officer (DIO) the deputy commissioner Ramban Mussarat al-Alam, according to GNS reported that the administration has found that many news websites are operating without registration or authorization from the authorities in question and that’s why the operations of these portals are being halted for the greater good of security and peace in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner also demanded the SSP Ramban detain individuals responsible for the circulation of fake news in accordance with specific sections of the law.
In the past, Ramban’s Deputy Commissioner had instructed journalists from several news websites within the district to submit their credentials to his office. Seven news sites failed to present their credentials, which included the registration with a competent authority. All those associated with fake news sites were then banned from operating.
Based on local news sources, the list of banned lists is comprised of Latief Rezza Sangaldan (United Urdu News), Charanjeet Bali Ukheral (VD News), Mubashir Nazir Ukheral (News Verse India) Zulifkar Bhat, Sangaldhan (Current News of India, “CNI”), Sajad Runiyal, Maligam Pogal (News Bureau of India , ‘NBI’), Parvez Bhat of Rajgarh (Today News Line) and an unidentified person who runs GHRT News’.
