No homework for students upto Class II | New Homework Guidelines issued

The School Education Department has issued new guidelines for homework, stating that students up to Class II should not be given any homework while only a maximum of two hours a week should be given to students from Classes 3 to 5.

The circular also states that for middle schools (Classes VI-VIII), a maximum of one hour per day or five to six hours a week should be assigned as homework, while at the secondary and higher secondary level, a maximum of two hours per day or 10 to 12 hours a week can be assigned.

Teachers have been urged to work together to plan and rationalize the amount of homework assigned to students, and schools have been instructed to strictly adhere to the School Bag Policy 2020.
