MG Motor launches cheapest EV in India, starting at Rs 7.98 lakh
MG Motor India introduced its latest smart electric vehicle, the Comet EV, on Wednesday. The car is priced at a starting price of Rs 7,98,000 and offers a certified battery range of approximately 230 km on a single charge.
According to the company, the Comet EV provides an affordable charging cost of Rs 519 per month. This is the second electric vehicle in MG Motor India’s portfolio and is equipped with futuristic and user-friendly smart technologies.
The Comet EV is built on the pure electric GSEV platform, which is the fastest to hit the 1 million EV sales mark worldwide.
Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India, stated that the car offers a versatile and spacious ride with unparalleled safety features.
It is designed on the concept of BICO – ‘Big Inside, Compact Outside,’ providing enhanced legroom and headroom. Additionally, the cabin comes equipped with useful features such as electric window operation buttons and a 12-Volt charging port.
The car is powered by a 17.3 kWh Li-ion battery, and it is IP67-rated, making it highly resistant to water and dust. The Comet EV also includes active and passive safety features such as Dual Front Airbags, ABS + EBD, Front & Rear 3 pt.
Seat Belts, Rear Parking Camera & Sensor, TPMS (Indirect), and ISOFIX Child Seat. MG Motor has also launched two special editions of the Comet EV: the Gamer edition and the LIT edition for urban commuters, including gaming and tech communities and fashionistas.
