Job Scam Unearthed In Kupwara, Investigations Underway: Police

Police on Friday claimed to have Unearthed a job scam in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that Police Station Kupwara has registered a case and started the investigation into a job fraud scam following a complaint lodged by Mr. Mohd Maqbool Dar, a resident of Kupwara. The complaint alleges that Zahoor Ahmad Ganaie S/O Gh Rasool Ganaie R/O Dogerpora Kalaroos along with others, defrauded unemployed individuals by falsely promising them government jobs in the Health Department in exchange for money and original educational certificates.

The police spokesman further stated that as per the complainant, he paid Rs. 15,000 and submitted his wife’s original educational certificates to the accused, who assured him of securing a government job for her. Zahoor Ahmad even called the complainant and his wife to the District Hospital Kupwara, claiming that they would receive the engagement order there. Upon reaching the hospital, the complainant found that several other individuals had also been lured by similar promises and had handed over money and documents to Zahoor Ahmad.

Instead of delivering on the promised job orders, Zahoor Ahmad later claimed that the money had been handed over to three other individuals, including two from Kupwara and Srinagar, and an unnamed woman, he said.

An FIR No. 284/24 under relevant sections of the law has been registered at PS Kupwara and preliminary investigations reveal that the accused are part of a well-organized syndicate targeting unemployed youth. Efforts are underway to apprehend all individuals involved in the scam. District Police Kupwara is committed to exposing the entire network and ensuring justice for the victims. More arrests are expected as the investigation progresses, he said.

District Police Kupwara urges citizens to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities related to job offers or financial transactions to the nearest police station, reads the statement.
