JKBOSE Notice Regarding National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme

National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS)β€” inviting applications from Class-VIII (8th) students.

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) invites applications in the prescribed (offline) format from eligible candidates for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) Examination 2024-25. Interested candidates are advised to carefully read the eligibility conditions below before applying.

1. Candidates must be currently enrolled in Class 8th for the academic session 2024-25 (in March-April 2024) in schools of Jammu / Kashmir Divsion.

2. A minimum of 55% marks in Class 7th is required, with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates.

3. The student must he studying in a Government, Government-aided, or Local Body School only.

4. The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed Rs. 3.5 lakh.

5. Reservations will be provided to various categories as per the reservation policy of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

6. Candidate must be a permanent domicile of UT of J&K

For availing the scholarship

1. A student must pass both the tests i.e. Mental Aptitude Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) with at least

2. 40% marks in aggregate (taken together for those two tests), For the SC/ST students, this cut off will be 32% marks.

The duration of the Scholarship is four years and the student will have to score at least 55% marks in Class VIII, 60% marks in class X (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates) and clear promotion in the first attempt from class IX to class X and class XI to class XII.

Number of scholarships

1068 scholarships will be awarded to the students selected in order of merit and the amount of scholarship is Rs.12000.00 (Rupees twelve thousand only) per annum per student i.e. a total amount of Rs.48000.00 (Rupees forty-eight thousand) for each selected students from Class IX to XII.

Examination:Β NMMSS Examination will comprise of two papers.

Children with special needs will be given extra time as applicable under rules.

The application form in prescribed proforma and other detailed information about the scholarship scheme can be downloaded from JKBOSE website www.jkbose.nic.in.The application forms duly attested by the Head of the Institution along with the requisite documents (i.e. class VII marks certificate, income certificate and category certificate, if applicable) and a pay-in-slip of Rs.60.00 (Rupees sixty only), favoring Liaison Officer, NMMS to be deposited in JK Bank Account NO.0547010100000002, Branch JKBOSE, Bemina, Srinagar (IFSC Code JAKA0EXAMBR) must reach the office of the concerned Chief Education Officer (Designated District Nodal Officer, NMMS Scheme) by or before 20th January 2025.

The Concerned Chief Education Officers (DNOs) shall prepare the database of the candidates in the prescribed excel format (available on JKBOSE website) and submit the Application Forms along with requisite documents and database of their respective districts to CDR Wing, Bemina, Srinagar / Rehari Colony, Jammu within seven days of the closing date of this notification.
