Eligibility Criteria of Assistant Professor Posts :
Candidates interested in applying can check the eligibility criteria, age limit, salary, and other essential details below.
Candidates must have a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC non-creamy layer) in the concerned or allied discipline. In addition:
For Economics : Master’s in Economics or relevant subject.
For Science & Society : Master’s in Social Work / Sociology / Science Communication or allied fields.
Desirable specializations include Science Communication, Citizen Science, Social Work, and Social Entrepreneurship.
Additionally, candidates must have cleared NET/SET/Ph.D. as per UGC norms.
Ph.D. obtained from top 500 globally ranked foreign universities (QS/THE/ARWU) is also considered valid.
Emoluments for IUST Assistant Professors: The monthly salary for candidates having:
Postgraduate (excluding Arch): ₹45,000/month
With NET/SET/GATE: ₹48,000/month
With Ph.D.: ₹50,000/month
With both NET/SET and Ph.D.: ₹50,000/month
Application Process :
Eligible candidates must apply online via the university portal www.iust.ac.in and pay ₹300/- fee. After applying online, the printed form along with self-attested documents must be submitted to the respective Head of Department/Centre by 30th April 2025.
Selection Process : Candidates will be shortlisted based on UGC Regulations-2018 criteria (Appendix II Table 3A).
For one post, 20 candidates will be shortlisted for interview.
Final selection will be based on interview performance.
The selected panel will remain valid for one year for any arising vacancies.
Terms and Conditions :
a) The applications shall have to be submitted through the University portal www.iust.ac.in under the specified tab.
b) Candidates will have to produce original documents relating to their qualification, experience etc. at the time of appearing in the interview.
c) No TA/DA shall be paid to candidates for appearing in the interview.
d) The time taken by candidates to acquire PG / M.Phil and /or Ph.D degree shall not be considered as teaching /research experience. The period of active service spent on pursuing Research Degree simultaneously with teaching assignment without taking any kind of leave (Part time), shall be counted as teaching experience subject to the submission of certificate to this effect issued by the concerned employer.
e) Qualifications / Experiences shall be counted as on the last date of submission of the application forms.
f) Any publications in predatory / dubious journals or presentations in predatory / dubious conferences shall not be considered for academic credit for selection & confirmation. With effect from 14-06-2019, research publications from journals indexed in UGC-CARE List only would be considered for all academic purposes.
g) An undertaking is to be given by the candidate stating that ‘the publications submitted by him / her are free from any plagiarism and if any plagiarism is found later, his / her candidature/selection shall stand rejected’.
h) In case of any disputes /suites or legal proceedings against the University, the jurisdiction shall be confined to the court of Srinagar only.
i) The engagement of the recommended candidates shall be subject to the outcome of the writ petition(s) (if any) pending in the Hon’ble Courts of J&K.
j) Eligible candidates will be informed about the date and place of interview through University website/e- mail whichever deemed suitable by the University and shall not take any responsibility for non-receipt or delayed receipt of the intimation by a candidate.
