“Hot, Dry Weather With Heat Wave Likely at Isolated Places in Jammu Division Today”: MeT

The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast generally hot and dry weather across Jammu and Kashmir on May 18, with heat wave conditions likely at isolated places in the plains of Jammu division.

According to the forecast issued by the MET Centre Srinagar, weather conditions are expected to change from May 19 to 21, with partly to generally cloudy skies accompanied by spells of light rain, thundershowers, gusty winds and possible hailstorms at scattered to many places, particularly during afternoon and evening hours.

The weather department said from May 22 to 25, the Union Territory is likely to witness generally dry weather during the forenoon, while brief showers may occur at isolated to scattered places towards afternoon or late afternoon hours.

Dry weather is expected to prevail from May 26 to 28.In its advisory, the MET Centre warned of the possibility of thunder, lightning and gusty winds with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph at a few places in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions during May 19 to 21.

The department also advised people to suspend boating and shikara riding, particularly during afternoon and late afternoon hours, in view of possible gusty winds and thunderstorms.

The Weather Update further said hot and dry weather is expected at many places of Jammu division today, with isolated heat wave conditions likely in the plains.
