Amit Shah to Review Amarnath Yatra Security Arrangements on June 8

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a high-level security review meeting in the national capital on June 8 to assess preparations for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting is expected to be attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, intelligence agencies, the Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and key officers of the Jammu and Kashmir administration.

According to official sources, the Home Minister will evaluate the readiness of security and civil departments involved in the annual pilgrimage and review measures aimed at ensuring the smooth, secure, and successful conduct of the Yatra.

Discussions are likely to focus on deployment of security personnel along the traditional Pahalgam and Baltal routes, counter-terrorism strategies, protection of pilgrim convoys, emergency response mechanisms, healthcare facilities, communication systems, and overall logistical arrangements.

Officials are also expected to brief the Home Minister on the prevailing security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the steps being taken to safeguard pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage period.

Special attention is likely to be given to intelligence coordination among various agencies, surveillance measures along the Yatra routes, and contingency plans to tackle any unforeseen challenges or security threats.

The review meeting forms part of the Centre’s broader strategy to ensure robust security coverage and efficient facilities for thousands of devotees expected to participate in this year’s Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
