GCET, Jammu  Admission Notice

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to M.Tech. Programmes in Government College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu for the session 2026-27 in following disciplines :-

ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA:

The candidate applying for admission to M Tech programme must be either:

(i) B.E/B.Tech (in relevant branch of Engineering and Technology) with minimum 50% of the marks or equivalent CGPA.

(ii) MCA/M.Sc (Computer Science/IT/Electronics/Mathematics/Statistics/Physics) in case of M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering with 50% of the marks or equivalent CGPA.

iii) Valid GATE Score.

iv) The candidates appearing/appeared in 8th Semester Examination have to produce their original marks card before or at the time of counselling/selection, if they figure in the list of the candidates qualified or called for counselling as the case may be. If a candidate has been called for counselling but has failed to produce original marks card of the qualifying examination, he/she shall not be considered for admission.

v) The candidate should be a Domicile of J&K UT.

All the above-mentioned degrees should be from Colleges/Universities recognized by UGC/AICTE. A relaxation of 5% in marks in the qualifying examination shall be given to the candidates belonging to the categories of Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST).

 

RESERVATION CRITERIA:

i) The reservation of seats will be as per the reservation rules of UT of Jammu and Kashmir.

ii) 15% seats shall be reserved for in-service employees who may be deputed by their respective employing organizations after obtaining proper sponsorship & NOC from the concerned employer.

 

SELECTION PROCEDURE:

i) Valid GATE score of three years shall be used to resolve and determine inter-se-merit of candidates having same GATE score. Following criterion will be used in the stated order of preference:

a) Candidates having valid GATE score in 2024 will be given preference over candidate having score in 2025.

b) Candidate having valid GATE score in 2025 will be given preference over candidate having score in 2026.

c) If years of GATE score are also same then the candidate with more experience will be given preference.

ii) In the absence of having adequate number of candidates with valid GATE score, the institute shall conduct its own written/online test/Merit based for admission to the said programme. Admission shall be based strictly on the merit obtained in the entrance test/online test/merit.

Candidates belonging to General category are required to pay application fee of Rs.800/- and the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD/EWS category are required to pay a fee of Rs. 500/- The Fee should be paid in the form of Demand Draft payable in favour of Principal, GCET, Jammu payable at Jammu.
