Selection for Chairperson & Two Members of Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC)
The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Department of Power) has invited applications for the selection of Chairperson and two Members of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC).
The notice has been forwarded by the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh for wider circulation among eligible candidates.

Eligibility Criteria
As per Section 84(1) of the Electricity Act, 2003, the Chairperson and Members of DERC should be persons of:
Ability
Integrity
Standing

Adequate knowledge and experience in areas related to:
Engineering
Finance
Commerce
Economics
Law
Management
Law Member Requirement
As per the judgment of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Civil Appeal No. 14697 of 2015 – State of Gujarat & Ors. Vs. Utility Users’ Welfare Association & Ors., there must be a Member with legal background.
The candidate should be :
A person who is or has been holding a judicial office; or
An advocate with at least 10 years of practice and qualified for appointment as a High Court Judge under Article 217(2) of the Constitution of India; or
An advocate with at least 7 years of practice and qualified for appointment as a District Judge under Article 233(2) of the Constitution of India.
Tenure of Appointment
The Chairperson and Members shall hold office for:
5 years from the date of assuming office, or
Until attaining the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
Salary & Benefits
The Chairperson and Members shall receive:
Fixed Pay: ₹2,25,000 per month
(If the appointed person is receiving pension, the pay shall be reduced by the amount of pension drawn.)
Other allowances and service conditions will be governed under:
Section 89 of the Electricity Act, 2003
Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (Salary, Allowances & Other Conditions of Service of the Chairperson & Members) Rules, 2001 (as amended from time to time).
