JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 3rd July 2026

 

From 01-07-2026, 1600 hrs to 02-07-2026, 1600 hrs, slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single lane conditions between Marog and Rashri at Dalwas on the Ramban side (2 vehicles at Chanderkote and 12 vehicles at Chanderkote and 12 vehicles at Nashri crossing).

After the cut-off timings, the inter-district movement of local commuters within the Jammu and Kashmir region shall be facilitated only after verification of valid photo identity cards which they must carry during the Yatra period.

Passenger/LMV operators are advised to prefer journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal and the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

Goods Carrier (HMV/LMV) operators carrying fresh perishable stocks are advised to load their vehicle as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time as the HMVs shall be allowed to ply on alternate days only.

Fruit growers/local carrier (HMV/LMV) operators carrying fresh perishable from Valley towards Jammu are advised to load and park their vehicles in line with proper parking before 9:00 am at designated places between NAVYUG Tunnel and Levdoora on the day of down convoy, so that their movement can be facilitated smoothly.

HMVs (operators/owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that these vehicles must not overtake other vehicles or halt during the journey. It is advised to check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu–Srinagar NHW.

Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary travel between Ramban and Banihal especially near landslide/shooting stone areas.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 03-07-2026

NH-44 (NHW)

Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, SANJY convoy, LMVs (Passenger/Private) cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu–Srinagar NHW (NH-44). Yatra convoy towards Srinagar and vice-versa. However, HMVs (load carriers) shall be allowed on alternate days. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall decide with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic.

CUT OFF TIMINGS FOR LMV/PASSENGER/PRIVATE CARS

To Srinagar from Jammu Side:

Nagrota (Jammu) towards Srinagar: from 07:00 hrs to 12:00 hrs

Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar: from 08:00 hrs to 13:00 hrs

TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar will monitor the situation about the traffic advisory and cut-off timings. No vehicle shall be allowed to move before and after cut-off timings.

HMV/Load Carriers

Subject to fair weather, better road conditions and an assessment of the prevailing traffic situation on NH-44, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Ladakh/Udhampur towards Jammu. No HMV shall be allowed to move after 1500 hrs. TCU Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban before releasing the HMVs.

Moreover, in view of ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, priority shall be given to movement of trucks carrying fresh perishable goods on NH-44 in coordination with TCU Jammu and TCU Ramban.

HMVs carrying empty LPG cylinders in the valley shall be allowed to move towards Jammu.

HMVs carrying fresh perishable goods from the valley shall be allowed to move through Mughal Road on the days when the up convoy for HMVs is scheduled on NH-44 as per advisory issued by DC/Commissioner of Police.

No overloading shall be allowed.

Amarnath Convoy Movement

Any road user shall be advised to plan their movement after SANJY convoy movement, keeping in view the daily advisory issued by the traffic authorities.

LMVs carrying passengers shall be allowed only after the Yatra convoy has crossed the respective sectors.

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244

The Kishtwar–Sinthan Road (NH-244) has been closed for vehicular movement due to road blockage caused by heavy rainfall and shooting stones.

SSG Road

As per order issued by the Divisional Commissioner, subject to fair weather and road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri Road.

Traffic towards Kargil shall move from Minamarg towards Kargil. HMVs carrying fresh perishable goods shall be allowed from Minamarg towards Srinagar after 1300 hrs.

No vehicle shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar before 1300 hrs.

Mughal Road

As per order issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DCSM/CP-25/26-27685 dated 22-06-2026 and the District Magistrate, Poonch vide No. DMJ/PJB/61 dated 26-06-2026, subject to fair weather and road conditions, vehicular movement (LMVs) shall be allowed from Shopian towards Poonch and vice-versa.

These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandanwari (Balbal) both sides, i.e., from Poonch toward Shopian and vice versa.

These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandanwari (Balbal) towards Shopian between 09:00 hrs and 17:00 hrs, and from Nilipora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 10:00 hrs and 17:00 hrs, after obtaining passes from the road maintenance agency (BEACON).

No vehicle shall be allowed to travel during the stipulated timings.
