JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 8th July 2026
Traffic Advisory for NH-44 and Other Major Roads
From Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K, motorists are informed that subject to fair weather and good road conditions, traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) shall be regulated as per the following advisory.
General Advisory
Commuters are advised to undertake journeys on NH-44 only after confirming the status of the road from the Traffic Control Units (TCUs).
Avoid unnecessary travel during bad weather.
Road users are advised to follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking.
Be patient while crossing landslide-prone and narrow stretches.
Goods carriers should be properly loaded and avoid overloading.
Vehicles must be in good mechanical condition before starting the journey.
Motorists must carry all valid documents.
NH-44 (Jammu–Srinagar National Highway)
Passenger Vehicles
Passenger vehicles will be allowed to travel from both sides on NH-44 subject to road and weather conditions.
Movement will be regulated after assessing the condition of the highway.
Cut-off Timings for LMVs
Nagrota (Jammu) towards Srinagar:
07:00 AM to 12:00 Noon
Qazigund (Kashmir) towards Jammu:
11:30 AM to 02:00 PM
No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timings.
HMVs (Heavy Motor Vehicles)
Heavy Motor Vehicles shall be allowed to move subject to road conditions and traffic management.
HMVs should strictly follow instructions issued by Traffic Police and Road Maintenance Agencies.
Security Convoys
Army/security convoy movement shall be facilitated as per requirement.
Civilian traffic may be temporarily halted whenever convoy movement is in progress.
Mughal Road (Shopian–Poonch)
Subject to fair weather and road conditions, traffic shall be allowed from both sides.
Vehicles should follow instructions issued by the authorities on the spot.
Sinthan Road
Traffic movement shall remain subject to the condition of the road and weather.
Commuters are advised to confirm road status before planning their journey.
Doda–Kishtwar Road
Traffic shall remain subject to weather conditions.
Vehicles should maintain lane discipline and avoid unnecessary halts.
Important Instructions
Do not overtake at narrow stretches.
Follow the directions of Traffic Police personnel deployed on the highway.
In case of landslides, shooting stones, or heavy rain, traffic may be suspended without prior notice.
Carry sufficient fuel before starting the journey.
Drive cautiously, especially on hilly roads.
