Assistant Professor Vacancies Announced
The University of Jammu has released a recruitment notification inviting applications from eligible candidates for the engagement of Assistant Professors on a purely temporary and need-based basis for the Academic Session 2026–27. The appointments will be made in various teaching departments, centres, institutes, and offsite campuses of the University as per UGC Regulations, 2018.

Vacancies are available across the Main Campus, Centre for Distance & Online Education, The Law School, SIIEDC, Faculty of Mathematical Sciences, UIET, and various Offsite Campuses including Bhaderwah, Kathua, Kishtwar, Ramnagar, Reasi, Poonch, and Udhampur.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess:
Master’s Degree in the relevant/allied subject with at least 55% marks from a recognized university.
NET/SLET/SET qualification as per UGC Regulations.
Candidates holding a Ph.D. under UGC Regulations are exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement wherever applicable.
Certain specialized departments require additional qualifications as specified in the official notification.

NET/JRF/SLET/SET score
Ph.D./M.Phil. qualifications
Research publications
Teaching/Post-doctoral experience
Awards
Interview
A merit panel of eligible candidates will be prepared, and appointments will be made according to departmental requirements and interview performance.
Salary
Selected candidates will receive a consolidated monthly salary as per University norms:
₹45,000 per month – Ph.D. + NET/SET or M.Tech + Ph.D.
₹40,000 per month – Ph.D. only, NET/SET only, or M.Tech only.

The engagement is purely temporary and need-based for one semester.
Re-engagement for another semester will depend on departmental requirements and satisfactory performance.
