Breaking: Traffic Stopped from Both Ends of J&K NH44

Authorities Suspend Movement From Both Ends; Commuters Advised to Avoid Highway Till Clearance

Traffic movement on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) has been suspended from both ends following heavy rainfall that rendered the road highly slippery and unsafe near the Dawal slide close to Dawal Bridge in Samroli area of Udhampur district, officials said on Monday evening.

Officials told news agency that the affected stretch has narrowed into a single carriageway due to slush, mud and continuous rainfall, posing a serious risk to commuters.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), along with Traffic Police, has pressed men and machinery into service to clear the road and restore traffic at the earliest.
