JK National Highway Traffic Updates for 16th August 2026

From 14-08-2026, 1600 hrs to 15-08-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane induction at Keela Morh side of the road at Digdol, Udhampur, as well as single-lane stretch between Moori and Kishtwar Pathar, in addition to the breakdown of 02 vehicles at Digdol and Ramsu.

In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the MeT with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the status of the road from TCU Srinagar/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at the J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.

Traffic remained regulated on a restricted manner at Dhalwal, Udhampur, on NH-44 due to a single-lane stretch for about 30–40 minutes.

Passengers/LGV operators are advised to prefer journeys on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones, landslides, as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

Goods carrier/HMV/LGV operators carrying fresh/perishable stock are advised to load their vehicles as per the advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters, keeping in mind the possibility of shooting stones, landslides and ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal.

HMV operators/owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during their journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Vehicle owners should double-check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking a journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halting between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide/shooting-stone areas.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 16-08-2026

Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)

Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs, passenger HMVs/private cars/HMVs (goods carriers) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.

Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline, as wrong-lane driving may cause congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.

Army/SF Convoy Movement

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), i.e. Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.

They shall move only after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244

As per the order issued by the SDM Chatroo vide No. SDM/C/2026-275/78-88 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokena vide No. SDM/K/2026-844/87-88 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after getting the green signal from road maintenance agencies (NHIDCL), LMVs/passenger/private cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar towards Sinthan and Anantnag road.

These vehicles shall be allowed to move from P.P. Pantha towards Anantnag between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0900 hrs and 1600 hrs.

No vehicle shall be allowed after the prescribed cut-off timing.

TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

SSG ROAD

As per the order issued by the DVCOM Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/100/2026/4392-4410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions:

  • LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg route, i.e. from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa.

These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Minamarg towards Srinagar, only after receiving the green signal from the road maintenance agencies, up to 1300 hrs.

However, HMVs shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1600 hrs and 1700 hrs.

No vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.

Motorists are advised to carry sufficient fuel and make one-way movement on the specified road.

TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

SSG convoy movement shall be planned in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.

Mughal Road (NH-701A)

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREI), LMVs followed by HMVs up to 10 tyres only shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice-versa.

These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Buffliaz) towards Shopian and from Heerpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs.

No vehicle shall be allowed once the prescribed cut-off timing expires.

As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DM/S/DM/PS/2023-31 dated 05-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
