Cluster University of Srinagar, Gogji-Bagh, Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, has issued Advertisement Notice No. 05-CUS of 2026, dated 24 August 2026, inviting online applications from eligible candidates for the appointment of Assistant Professors in various departments/subjects.
The advertised positions are in Pay Level 10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, carrying a pay scale of ₹57,700–₹1,82,400.

The reservation distribution is 06 OM, 02 SC, 02 ST-1, 01 ST-2, 01 RBA, 01 EWS and 01 LAC/IB.
The notice also specifies the communities included under Scheduled Tribe-I, including Bakrwal, Balti, Beda, Bot/Boto, Brokpa/Drokpa/Dard/Shin, Changpa, Garra, Gaddi, Gujjar, Mon, Purigpa and Sippi.
Scheduled Tribe-II includes Gadda Brahmin, Koli, Paddari Tribe and Pahari Ethnic Group.
Pay Scale
Selected candidates will be appointed as Assistant Professors in Pay Level 10 of the 7th Central Pay Commission, with a pay range of:
₹57,700 – ₹1,82,400
Other service conditions will be governed by the applicable rules and regulations of the University and the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.

Submission of Hard Copy
After submitting the online application, candidates are required to take a printout of the completed employment application form.
The printed application form, along with all required documents and the application-fee receipt, must be self-attested and submitted to the Office of the Registrar, Cluster University of Srinagar.

Educational Qualification
Unless specifically mentioned otherwise in the advertisement, candidates must possess:
A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks, or an equivalent grade on a point scale, in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
Candidates holding a Master’s degree from a foreign university must submit an equivalence certificate certified by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
A relaxation of 5% marks is applicable to the categories mentioned in the relevant rules, based on qualifying marks without including grace marks.
NET / SLET / SET / Ph.D. Requirement
In addition to the required Master’s qualification, candidates must have qualified:
UGC NET, or
CSIR NET, or
A similar test recognized/accredited by the UGC such as SLET/SET,
or possess a Ph.D. degree obtained in accordance with the applicable UGC regulations, where such Ph.D. qualification provides exemption from the NET/SLET/SET requirement.
The advertisement also contains provisions regarding candidates registered for Ph.D. programmes before 11 July 2009. Such candidates may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET subject to fulfillment and certification of the prescribed conditions.
These conditions include that :
The Ph.D. must have been awarded in regular mode.
The Ph.D. thesis must have been evaluated by at least two external examiners.
An open Ph.D. viva voce must have been conducted.
The candidate must have published at least two research papers from the Ph.D. work, with at least one publication appearing in a refereed journal.
The candidate must have presented at least two papers based on the Ph.D. work at conferences/seminars sponsored, funded or supported by UGC, ICSSR, CSIR or a similar agency.
Fulfillment of these conditions must be certified by the Registrar, Dean Academic Affairs or Controller of Examinations of the concerned University.
NET/SLET/SET is also not required for Master’s programmes in disciplines for which such tests are not conducted by UGC, CSIR or an equivalent UGC-accredited testing agency.
The advertisement further provides for exemption where the Ph.D. has been obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the World University Ranking at any time by QS, Times Higher Education or ARWU of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Equivalence of Grades
For candidates whose institutions follow a seven-point grading scale, the advertisement provides equivalence of grades with 55% marks.
The specified equivalence includes:
O (Outstanding): Grade Point 10
A+ (Excellent): Grade Point 9
A (Very Good): Grade Point 8
B+ (Good): Grade Point 7
B (Above Average): Grade Point 6
C (Average): Grade Point 5
P (Pass): Grade Point 4
The corresponding percentage equivalence is to be considered according to the grading provisions specified in the advertisement.
Shortlisting of Candidates
The University has prescribed a merit-based shortlisting system.
Twenty (20) candidates will ordinarily be shortlisted for interview against each vacancy.
Where the number of vacancies is more than one, five additional candidates will be shortlisted for every additional vacancy, in order of merit.
Therefore, candidates should ensure that all academic achievements, research publications, qualifications and eligible experience are properly documented and included in the application.
Merit Criteria
The University has prescribed a 100-mark academic merit framework for preparation of the merit list of eligible candidates.
Academic Record
Marks are awarded for academic qualifications as follows:
Graduation:
80% and above – 15 marks
60% to less than 80% – 13 marks
SKIMS Recruitment 2026
55% to less than 60% – 10 marks
45% to less than 55% – 05 marks
Post-Graduation:
80% and above – 25 marks
60% to less than 80% – 23 marks
55% to less than 60% – 20 marks
For reserved-category candidates, 50% is considered for the applicable 20-mark range as specified in the notice.
M.Phil.:
60% and above – 07 marks
55% to less than 60% – 05 marks
Ph.D.:
30 marks
NET / JRF / SLET / SET
Additional marks are provided for qualifying examinations:
NET with JRF: 07 marks
NET: 05 marks
SLET/SET: 03 marks
Research Publications
Candidates can receive marks for research publications in the concerned field published in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
02 marks for each eligible research publication
Maximum under this component: 10 marks
Teaching / Postdoctoral Experience
Eligible teaching or postdoctoral experience carries:
02 marks for each completed year
Maximum: 10 marks
If the period of teaching/postdoctoral experience is less than one year, the marks will be reduced proportionately.
Awards
Marks are also provided for recognized awards:
International/National-level award: 03 marks
Gold Medal awarded by a Central/State University or State-level award given by a State Government/recognized body or agency: 02 marks
Overall Merit Distribution
The merit assessment is structured around:
Academic Score: 80 marks
Research Publications: 10 marks
Teaching Experience: 10 marks
Total: 100 marks
The advertisement also specifies maximum limits for certain components, including M.Phil./Ph.D., JRF/NET/SET and awards.
General Terms and Conditions

Reservation for the advertised vacancies will be governed by the provisions of S.O. 305 dated 21 May 2024, issued by the UT Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
Candidates seeking reservation under any reserved category must submit a valid certificate issued in the prescribed format by the competent authority.
EWS Vacancy
The advertisement clarifies that an EWS vacancy is intended for the EWS category. However, since EWS vacancies are not carried forward as backlog vacancies to the next recruitment year, if suitable EWS candidates are unavailable, the University may fill the vacancy under the UR category.
UR candidates may also apply for such a position at their own risk and responsibility, but their candidature will be considered only if suitable EWS candidates are unavailable or not found suitable.
Minimum Candidates for Interview
Interviews will be conducted subject to the availability of a minimum of three candidates. If the minimum number of candidates is not available, the position may be re-advertised.
Cut-off Date for Eligibility
The eligibility of candidates will be determined with reference to the last date fixed for submission of the online application.
Any qualification, experience or other eligibility acquired after the closing date will not be taken into consideration.
M.Phil. / Ph.D. Period
The period spent by a candidate in acquiring an M.Phil. and/or Ph.D. degree will not be counted as teaching or research experience.
Verification of Documents
All appointments will be provisional and subject to verification of the documents, certificates and claims submitted by the candidate.
If verification reveals that a candidate has submitted a false claim or false category certificate, the appointment/services may be terminated immediately and further legal action may be initiated under the applicable law.
Age of Superannuation
The age of superannuation will be governed by the norms applicable to Universities of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
Pension Scheme
All appointees, including in-service candidates, will be governed by the New Pension System/Scheme (NPS) of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
University’s Rights
The University reserves the right:
To withdraw the advertisement either partly or completely at any stage without assigning a reason.
Not to fill some or all of the advertised vacancies.
To increase or decrease the number of vacancies at the time of selection and make appointments accordingly.
To issue corrigenda, addenda or other amendments whenever required.
Candidates must regularly check the University website because separate individual communication may not be issued for every update.
Teaching Experience
Teaching experience claimed by candidates must be supported by certificates issued by recognized Government/Government-recognized higher education institutions such as Universities, Colleges or Research Institutes.
The experience certificate must be properly signed by the competent authority, such as the Registrar, University/College Principal, Dean of the concerned institution or another designated authority.
Teaching experience obtained as Guest Faculty, Academic Counsellor, Demonstrator, Trainee or Instructor, including experience under IGNOU/MANU/Distance Mode, will not be counted.
Post-Doctoral Research Experience
Post-doctoral research experience claimed by a candidate must have been obtained from a recognized institution or agency and must be duly certified by the competent authority of the concerned University or institution.
Documents Required
Candidates must submit self-attested copies of all relevant documents. The application may be rejected if the required supporting documents are not enclosed.
Important documents include:
High School Certificate from a recognized board.
Marks sheet and Degree Certificate of Graduation.
Marks sheet and Degree Certificate of Post-Graduation.
Certificate of NET/JRF/SET/SLET/CSIR, wherever applicable.
M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree Certificate, wherever applicable.
Experience Certificates, wherever applicable.
Category/Reservation Certificate, wherever applicable.
Any other certificate or document required under the prescribed qualifications.
The University has specifically stated that failure to enclose self-attested hard copies of the required documents with the employment form may result in summary rejection of the application.
General Instructions for Applicants
Candidates should satisfy themselves regarding their eligibility before applying.
No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
Candidates already working in Government or other institutions must route their applications through the proper channel. Such applications should reach the concerned office by or before the conduct of the interview. Candidates must also submit an advance copy of the printout of the online application before the prescribed deadline.
Candidates must immediately inform the University about any change in the address mentioned in the application form.
The University will verify the antecedents and documents submitted by candidates at the time of appointment or at any stage during service. If fake documents or suppression of material information is discovered, the candidate’s services may be terminated.
The University will not be responsible for postal delays.
If the final date for submission of the printed application falls on a holiday or closed day, the next working day will be treated as the last date for submission.
Any dispute or legal proceedings against the University will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Courts at Srinagar, J&K.
