TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
From 25-08-2026, 1500 hrs to 26-08-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow movement was observed on NH-44 due to large number of vehicles, including a severe traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar NH-44, especially between the Jammu and Kashmir Valley. In addition to the breakdown of 02 vehicles between Nashri and Ramban.
In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the IMD with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of road from TCU Srinagar/Jammu/Banihal. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.
Traffic management was regulated manner at Dawal, Udhampur on NH-44 due to single lane about 30-40 Mtr.
Passengers/LGV operators are advised to defer journey on Jammu-Srinagar NH-44 during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.
In view of widening work being undertaken by NHAI on Digdol-Khooni Nalla axis on Jammu-Srinagar NH-44, the movement of Kashmir-bound oil & gas tankers shall remain restricted on this stretch during daytime in between 0700 hrs to 1800 hrs as the movement of tankers loaded with inflammable material is restricted through the construction tunnel. As such the movement of oil tankers shall be allowed beyond Chakhani only after 1700 hrs upto 0600 hrs. Tanker operators are advised to plan their travel accordingly in order to avoid any inconvenience and for their safety.
Goods carrier (HMV/LWV) operators carrying fresh perishable stock are advised to load their vehicle as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters time to time as there is apprehension of stopping of goods/vehicles as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

HMVs Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NH. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NH.
Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary haltage between Ramban and Banihal especially near landslides/traffic prone area.
TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 27-08-2026
Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs Passenger/Private Car/MTVs (Good carrier) shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. Commuters are advised to follow traffic discipline, road conditions, and avoid congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding the road condition.
Army/SSG Convoy Movement:
Subject to weather and road condition, security forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. They may move after confirming the status of traffic from TCU Ramban.
Advisory for NHAI:
As per order issued by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu vide No. S.O. 2026-27/578-86 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SMCG/2025-26/48-38 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road condition, after getting clearance from Traffic Police Headquarters regarding NH-44, LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply towards Srinagar from Jammu. Heavy Motor Vehicles shall be allowed to move from Jammu towards Srinagar from 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Qazigund towards Kashmir between 0900 hrs and 1000 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed once the convoy starts moving until the clearance is given from all concerned.
SSG ROAD
As per order issued by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir vide No. DivCom/Dev/100/2025/432-4410 dated 14-05-2025, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, i.e. from Srinagar towards Sonamarg and vice-versa. Traffic shall be allowed to move in both directions on the road. However, Srinagar traffic shall not be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Zojila until further clearance. HMV movement shall remain restricted from 0900 hrs to 1300 hrs. HMV shall be allowed after 1700 hrs. Motorists are advised to avoid unnecessary haltage and follow lane discipline. The road may remain congested due to ongoing work.
Mughal Road (NH-144A) :
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (R&B), the vehicular movement (LMVs followed by HMVs upto 10 ton) only shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa. These vehicles shall be allowed from Chandimarh (Poonch) towards Shopian and vice-versa. Traffic shall not be allowed to move beyond Buffliaz towards Shopian until further clearance. No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings of 09-08-2026, as per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian vide No. DMS/DM/PC-326/231-31 dated 03-07-2026.
