LPG refill booking interval cut from 45 days to 25 for rural consumers

September 07, 2026 / 17:36 IST : LPG refill booking: Suresh Gopi said the earlier refill booking gap was 25 days for urban consumers and 45 days for rural consumers due to pressure on LPG supplies following the Middle East conflict.

Union Minister of State for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Tourism Suresh Gopi said on Monday that the central government has directed oil marketing companies (OMCs) to immediately implement a uniform 25-day LPG refill booking interval for both urban and rural consumers.

Gopi said the earlier refill booking gap was 25 days for urban consumers and 45 days for rural consumers due to pressure on LPG supplies following the Middle East conflict.

“However, in view of the current LPG supply situation improving and the significant reduction in refill backlog, the central government has relaxed this restriction. Now, all domestic LPG consumers, regardless of urban or rural, can book refills at an interval of 25 days,” the minister said in a Facebook post.

Gopi also shared a copy of the Petroleum Ministry’s letter to the OMCs, directing them to immediately implement the revised LPG refill booking interval.

The move means rural LPG consumers will no longer have to wait longer than urban consumers to book a cylinder refill.
