TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

From 09-09-2026, 1600 hrs to 10-09-2026, 1600 hrs, very slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane traffic between Dawal, Udhampur and Mehar, Ramban, along with the breakdown of 04 vehicles between Ramban and Banihal.

In view of the inclement weather conditions forecast by the IMD, with a likely spell of rainfall over the next few days, the general public is advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the status of road conditions on the NH-44 corridor Srinagar/Ramban/Jammu. Commuters are also advised to check the status of roads at the J&K Traffic Police Twitter/X handle and Facebook page.

Traffic remained regulated at Dawal, Udhampur on NH-44 due to a single lane for about 20–40 minutes.

Passengers/LN.V. operators are advised to prefer journeys on the Jammu–Srinagar NHW during daytime. Night travel should be avoided due to the apprehension of shooting stones/landslides, as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

In view of widening works being undertaken by NHAI on Digdol-Khooni Nalla axis on Jammu-Srinagar NHW, the movement of Kashmir-bound oil and gas tankers shall remain restricted on this stretch during daytime, in between 0700 hrs to 1500 hrs. The movement of tankers loaded with inflammable material is restricted through this area. As such, the movement of up tankers shall be allowed beyond 1700 hrs up to 0500 hrs. Tanker operators are advised to plan their travel accordingly in order to avoid any inconvenience and ensure safety.

Goods carriers (HMV/LWV) carrying fresh perishable stock are advised to load their vehicles as per the advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time, as there is apprehension of shooting stones/landslides as well as ongoing construction work between Ramban and Banihal, which may cause inconvenience to commuters.

HMV Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during the journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double-check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journeys on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary halts between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide/shooting stone areas.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR 11-09-2026

Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)

Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs/Passenger/Private Cars/Carriers (Goods carriers) shall be allowed to move on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.

Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline. Overtaking and wrong-lane driving will cause congestion. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding road conditions.

Army SF Convoy Movement

Subject to weather and ground conditions, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) via from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.

They shall move after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.

Kishtwar–Sinthan Anantnag NH-244

As per order issued by the DC Kishtwar vide No. DCK/MC/2026-271578-86 dated 09-07-2026 and the SDM Kokernag vide No. SDM/K/2026-362/87-88 dated 09-07-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, the going-open general traffic from Kishtwar towards Anantnag and vice-versa shall be allowed.

LMV Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed to ply from both sides via Kishtwar towards Srinagar and vice-versa on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road.

These vehicles shall be allowed to move from PP Parnu towards Anantnag between 0800 hrs and 1600 hrs, and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0600 hrs and 1600 hrs.

No vehicle shall be allowed after the cut-off timing. TCU Jammu/Ramban/TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

SSG ROAD

As per order issued by the DVCOM Kashmir vide No. DVCOM/Dev/10/2026/3942-3410 dated 14-05-2026, subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs shall be allowed to ply from both sides on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, i.e. from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa.

These vehicles shall be allowed to move from Sonamarg towards Kargil and from Kargil towards Sonamarg only, after receiving confirmation regarding clearance from the road maintenance agencies up to 1300 hrs.

However, HGVs shall be allowed to move from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1200 hrs and 1700 hrs, and no vehicle shall be allowed after 1700 hrs.

LMV vehicles are advised to carry anti-skid chains in case of slippery road conditions. TCU Srinagar and PCR Kargil will inform all concerned about the cut-off timing.

SFC convoy moving on the SSG road shall gain their movement in such a manner that civil traffic is not disturbed.

Mughal Road (NH-701A)

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, after obtaining clearance from the road maintenance agency (GREF), vehicular movement of LMVs followed by HMV up to 10 tyre only shall be allowed to ply on Mughal Road from both sides, i.e. from Poonch towards Shopian and vice-versa.

These vehicles shall be allowed to ply from Chandimargh (Buffliaz) towards Shopian and from Heerpora (Shopian) towards Poonch between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs.

No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed after the prescribed cut-off timings. As per the orders issued by the District Magistrate, Shopian, vide No. DMS/…? dated 05-07-2026, TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar shall inform all concerned regarding the cut-off timings.
