Rains Lash Kashmir As Temperatures Dip, Fresh Snowfall Covers Gurez, Tulail And Kabul Gali

*Srinagar Records Minimum 13.4°C; Pahalgam 9.4°C, Gulmarg 5.8°C; Rain, Gusty Winds And Hailstorm Likely At Some Places, Says Weatherman*

Srinagar, Sep 17 : Rains lashed several parts of Kashmir Valley, including Srinagar, since Wednesday night, while fresh snowfall was reported from the higher reaches of north Kashmir, including Tulail Valley and Kabul Gali in Gurez.

Reports reaching news agency stated that, rains lash almost all parts of Kashmir valley including Srinagar, from Wednesday late night, while higher reaches of Gurez valley received snowfall including Tulail and Kabul Gali.

According to the details shared by India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday morning, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 13.4°C, against the normal of 13.5°C, while Pahalgam recorded 9.4°C and Gulmarg 5.8°C.

Qazigund recorded a minimum of 12.4°C, Kupwara 13.8°C, Kukernag 14.6°C and Konibal 12.5°C.

The IMD recorded 8.2 mm rainfall in Srinagar during the past 24 hours, while Qazigund received 13.4 mm, Pahalgam 13.0 mm, Kukernag 14.4 mm and Gulmarg 13.2 mm.

The maximum rainfall during the period was recorded at Udhampur at 117.8 mm, according to the IMD.

According to the weather forecast issued by independent weather channel Kashmir Weather, rain and thundershowers are likely at many to most places across Jammu and Kashmir through September 17, although no continuous spell is expected.

Gusty winds, hailstorms and intense showers are also possible at a few places during the period.

On September 18, weather is expected to remain mostly fine, although a few places may witness thundershowers during the late afternoon or evening.

Dry weather is expected from September 19 to 22, with a possibility of brief thundershowers at one or two places. (JKNS)
