LG Sinha to New Police Officers: Let the Uniform Stand for Justice and J&K Resolve
LG urges newly appointed police officers to uphold honesty, courage and humility; says every citizen’s security, especially that of the weakest, must remain their foremost responsibility
Srinagar, Sep 18: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday urged newly appointed officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Police (Gazetted) Services to discharge their responsibilities with honesty, courage, humility and a strong commitment to protecting every citizen.
Speaking after handing over appointment orders to the newly selected candidates at Lok Bhavan, Srinagar, Sinha, as per news agency JKNS, said the appointment marked not merely the beginning of a career but entry into a mission that demands sacrifice and dedication.
He congratulated the newly appointed officers and their parents and families, saying the selection through a transparent process reflected their hard work, merit and talent.
The LG said wearing the police uniform was a matter of great responsibility and stressed that its respect is earned through the conduct and integrity of those who wear it.
“The respect for the uniform comes from the honesty, courage and humility of the officers wearing it,” he said.

Sinha said the officers would undergo training at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy, Udhampur, where they would get an understanding of the challenges and responsibilities associated with police service.

He said the security environment in Jammu and Kashmir had evolved considerably, with new challenges emerging in the virtual space, radicalisation, terror financing, cryptocurrency and money laundering.
He said the police would have to remain prepared to counter threats posed by terrorists and terror organisations while ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
The LG stressed that protecting every citizen was a responsibility, particularly ensuring the security and dignity of the weakest sections of society.
He called upon the officers to combine the authority that comes with the uniform with compassion and human sensitivity in all their actions.
“Along with power, you have to connect the values of compassion with your responsibilities so that human sensitivity remains visible in all your actions,” he said.
Sinha also highlighted the importance of community participation and said establishing the rule of law required the police to maintain the trust and confidence of people.
He urged the officers to keep their conscience and inner values above everything else, saying they would also become guardians of Jammu and Kashmir’s aspirations for development, peace and a secure future.
The LG said Jammu and Kashmir could move towards becoming a developed Union Territory only when security, the rule of law and public trust remained firmly established.
He asked the newly appointed officers to take a pledge to uphold the dignity of the uniform under all circumstances and use their authority for justice.
Sinha also expressed confidence that the new officers would carry forward the values and traditions of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and contribute to strengthening peace, security and public confidence.
He congratulated the officers once again and thanked their parents and families for their support and sacrifices in helping them reach the milestone. (JKNS)
