Rajouri Encounter: Security forces on alert after militants flee during an encounter
Police and security forces have intensified their search to hunt terror suspects, who managed to get out of the cordon following a violent shootout within the Rajouri district, according to sources.
Security forces on Sunday spotted 3 militants in the Sojan forest in Samote located in Rajouri and declared a siege to eliminate the group.
Militants fired upon security forces during the cordon and search operations (CASO) but were able to escape with severe rains and adverse weather conditions as cover, according to the report.
Forces are now intensifying the search for militants who might be seeking new targets within the region.
Police and security forces have been placed on alert due to the possibility of the movements of two suspect people within Rajouri city, in particular around security forces’ areas on Tuesday, the police said.
The agencies also found two suspicious individuals, one of whom was carrying a backpack on the footage of CCTV, they claimed.
On the 11th of August two terrorists attacked the Army Camp in Rajouri and killed 4 soldiers during a pre-dawn suicide attack that brought “fidayeen” back to Jammu and Kashmir after three years.
The two terrorists were thought to be part of an organization based in Pakistan, Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). They were killed after a four-hour shootout.
