SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 carries approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies for LDC/JSA and DEO posts combined. The notice states that final vacancies, along with the post-wise and category-wise break-up, will be published later on the SSC website under Candidate’s Corner > Tentative Vacancy. State-wise or zone-wise vacancy figures are not compiled by the Commission; candidates are advised to contact the respective User Departments for that information.

A candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from certain specified countries with the intention of settling permanently in India (candidates in the latter categories require an eligibility certificate from the Government of India).

SSC CHSL Qualification

DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ in Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, SSC, and Ministry of Culture 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject, from a recognised Board
LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ (all other Departments/Ministries) 12th Standard pass or equivalent examination from a recognised Board or University

 

Candidates who have appeared for their Class 12 exam can also apply, but they must have the qualifying result declared on or before 07 October 2026. Only a declared result counts – a result “under process” does not meet the requirement.

Age Limit :

The age limit for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 is 18 to 27 years, reckoned as on 01 August 2026. This means candidates born not before 02 August 1999 and not later than 01 August 2008 are eligible to apply. Age relaxation is available as per government norms.

Selected candidates in SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 will be placed on the following pay levels as per the 7th Central Pay Commission structure. In-hand/gross salary figures are not specified in the notification.

Application Fee

The application fee for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 is Rs. 100. Women candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen (ESM) categories eligible for reservation are exempted from the fee.

Fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Visa/MasterCard/Maestro/RuPay debit cards, up to 08 October 2026 (23:00 Hours). Fee once paid is not refundable or adjustable against any other exam.

Selection Process

Selection for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 is through a Computer Based Examination conducted in two tiers.

Tier-I

Tier-I consists of objective type, multiple-choice questions only, with a total duration of 60 minutes and negative marking of 0.50 marks per wrong answer.

Tier-II

Tier-II is conducted in two sessions on the same day, comprising four sections: Section-I (Mathematical Abilities and Reasoning & General Intelligence), Section-II (English Language & Comprehension and General Awareness), Section-III (Computer Knowledge Test, qualifying in nature), and Section-IV (Skill Test/Typing Test for DEO and LDC/JSA posts respectively). It is mandatory to qualify all sections of Tier-II. There is negative marking of 1 mark per wrong answer in Sections I and II.

How to Apply for SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026

Visit the official SSC website at ssc.gov.in or the “my SSC” mobile application.

Complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new SSC website – OTR generated on the earlier website will not work here.

Log in and fill out the SSC CHSL 2026 online application form.

Opt for Aadhaar-based authentication during OTR, if desired, to simplify photo/ID requirements at the exam venue.

Upload the required details and capture your photograph as per the instructions in the application module.

Pay the application fee online (if applicable) before 08 October 2026.

Submit the form and keep a printout for your records.

Important Instructions

Applications must be submitted only in online mode; no offline applications are accepted.

Candidates can select up to three exam centres in order of priority.

Fee once paid is non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against any other exam.

The correction window (14–16 October 2026) allows a maximum of two modifications/re-submissions to the application; only applications with fee received (or fee-exempted) are eligible for correction.

Applications remaining “Incomplete” due to non-receipt of fee will be summarily rejected.
