Central University of Jammu Recruitment 2026

The Central University of Jammu (CU Jammu) has invited applications from eligible candidates for the engagement of research staff on a part-time basis under an ICSSR-sponsored research project. The recruitment is being conducted for the project titled “Urban Governance in Jammu and Kashmir: An Evaluative Study of Smart Cities Mission in Jammu and Srinagar”, undertaken by the Department of Public Policy and Public Administration, Central University of Jammu.

Overview

The engagement is purely temporary and project-based. Eligible candidates can apply for the posts of Research Assistant and Field Investigator.

Vacancy Details

1. Research Assistant

Number of Vacancies: 01

Duration: 2 months initially

Qualification: Postgraduate degree in a Social Science discipline with a minimum of 55% marks, along with NET/M.Phil./Ph.D.

Remuneration: ₹37,000 per month (consolidated)

The tenure may be extended by one additional month, depending on project requirements.

2. Field Investigator

Number of Vacancies: 03

Duration: 3 months initially

Qualification: Graduation in any Social Science discipline with a minimum of 55% marks

Remuneration: ₹20,000 per month (consolidated)

The tenure may be extended for a further three months on a need basis.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the Research Assistant position must possess a postgraduate qualification in a Social Science discipline with at least 55% marks and must also have NET, M.Phil. or Ph.D. qualification.

For the Field Investigator post, candidates must have completed graduation in any Social Science discipline with at least 55% marks.

The university has also stated that preference will be given to candidates having experience of working in research projects.

Interview Date

Only shortlisted candidates will be informed through email regarding the interview. The physical interview is scheduled for 17 September 2026.
Candidates called for the interview will not be entitled to any TA/DA.

Important Terms and Conditions

The engagement is purely temporary and will be limited to the duration of the ICSSR research project. The services may be terminated upon completion or termination of the project, or earlier at the discretion of the Project Coordinator and Director.

The engagement will not confer any right to claim regular employment in the Central University of Jammu.

The decision of the Selection Committee will be final. The competent authority also reserves the right to fill or not fill any of the advertised vacancies.
