Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the following position under an ICSSR Major Research Project sanctioned by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Education, Government of India.

1. Position, Number of Vacancies and Remuneration

The project has one (01) vacancy for the position of Field Investigator.

The selected candidate will receive a consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs. 20,000/- per month.

2. Essential Qualification

The candidate must fulfill the following educational and experience requirements:

The candidate should be a Graduate in any Social Science discipline with a minimum of 55% marks.

Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP).

Candidates should preferably have experience in fieldwork, survey, archival work, documentation, or similar research-related activities.

Preference will particularly be given to candidates having knowledge or experience related to Kashmiri language, folk literature, or oral traditions.

Thus, candidates with a background in Social Sciences and practical experience in conducting field-based research, surveys, interviews, documentation, or working with local cultural and linguistic material may have an advantage.

3. Terms and Conditions

The engagement will be subject to the following conditions:

a. Temporary nature of engagement:
The appointment is purely temporary and co-terminus with the tenure of the project. The project is scheduled for 24 months (2 years), or the engagement may end earlier if the Project Director decides to discontinue the position.

b. Termination of engagement:
The Project Director reserves the right to terminate the engagement at any time, without assigning any reason.

c. No claim for permanent employment:
The engagement does not confer any right or claim for regularisation, permanent appointment, or absorption in the University or any other institution.

d. Funding condition:
The payment of salary/remuneration will be subject to the release of funds by the funding agency, i.e., ICSSR.

e. No TA/DA for interview:
Candidates appearing for the interview will not be provided Travelling Allowance (TA) or Daily Allowance (DA). Candidates will have to bear their own travel and other expenses for attending the interview.

f. Applicability of rules:
The terms and conditions governing the engagement will be as per the rules and regulations of the University and/or the funding agency, wherever applicable. These rules may also be amended from time to time.

4. How to Apply

In Simple Terms

This is a temporary research position for one Field Investigator under an ICSSR-funded Major Research Project. The selected person will be paid Rs. 20,000 per month and will work for the duration of the project, which is up to 24 months.

The basic eligibility is a Social Science graduation with at least 55% marks. Candidates with a Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) and experience in fieldwork, surveys, archival work, documentation, Kashmiri language, folk literature, or oral traditions are likely to receive preference.

The appointment is not a permanent government or university job. It will continue only for the duration of the project and is also dependent on the availability/release of project funds.
