GMC Udhampur Recruitment 2026
Government Medical College and Associated Hospital, Udhampur has invited applications from eligible candidates/doctors who are citizens of India, including Domicile/Non-Domicile candidates of the UT of J&K, for engagement in different disciplines on an academic arrangement basis for a period of one year, extendable up to a maximum of three years, subject to good conduct and satisfactory performance.

Eligibility & Selection Criteria
The eligibility and selection criteria shall be as per Government Order No. 382-JK(HME) of 2024 dated 20 June 2024 and Government Order No. 383-JK(HME) of 2024 dated 20 June 2024, as applicable.
Candidates are advised to carefully check the prescribed educational qualifications and other requirements for the discipline for which they intend to apply.
Application Fee
Applicants are required to submit a non-refundable bank draft of Rs. 500/- drawn in favour of the Principal, Government Medical College, Udhampur.
Applications that are incomplete or submitted without the prescribed fee are liable to be rejected.
How to Apply
Interested candidates must apply on the prescribed application form attached as Annexure-I to the notification.
The duly completed application form, along with the required documents and bank draft, must be submitted to the office of the Principal, Government Medical College, Udhampur, either personally or through registered post/hand delivery.
Last Date to Apply : 10 August 2026 up to 4:00 PM
Applications received after the prescribed deadline will not be entertained.
The maximum age limit for eligibility is 50 years as on the cut-off date.
Documents Required :
Applications must be accompanied by self-attested copies of the following documents:
Date of Birth Certificate.
MBBS Diploma/MBBS-DNB/MD/MS/Diploma/All Terms Mark Sheets and qualification documents of the respective specialty.
Attempt certificates of 1st, 2nd, Pre-Final and Final MBBS issued by the concerned universities.
MBBS Degree and MCI/NMC/State Medical Council Registration Certificate.
Internship Completion Certificate.
Distinction/National Scholarship/Honours/Medals/Academic Merit Certificate, if any.
House-job/JR certificate issued by the concerned Principal or equivalent authority.
FMGE Certificate, wherever applicable, in case of MBBS and degree obtained from outside the country.
Certificates/publications relating to professional achievements in a standard medical journal, wherever applicable.
Selection Process :
The selection and eligibility criteria will be governed by the relevant Government Orders.
The written examination, wherever required, will comprise 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying a total of 100 marks.
2 marks will be awarded for each correct answer.
Negative marking of ¼ of the allotted marks will apply for every incorrect answer.
Important Terms & Conditions
Candidates will be paid salaries/remuneration as per S.O. 364 of 2020 dated 27 November 2020.
The maximum tenure of a Senior Resident will be three years, with no further extension.
The candidature will remain provisional until the genuineness of documents and qualifications is verified by the competent authority.
Candidates must ensure that they meet all educational and professional requirements before applying.
If any document submitted is found to be fabricated, incorrect or not substantiated, the candidature may be cancelled and appropriate legal action may follow.
The appointment shall be governed by an affidavit duly attested by a Judicial Magistrate, stating that the candidate is not working in any other medical college and that the information furnished in the application is correct and true.
Candidates who have already completed their tenure as Registrar/Demonstrator/Senior Resident in any discipline will not be eligible to apply again for that category.
A separate application form must be submitted for each post/specialty, with the prescribed fee deposited separately for each application.
Disciplinary & Legal Conditions
Candidates are strictly advised not to provide false information or suppress any material facts. Once shortlisted, candidates must not alter or tamper with any entry in their documents or submit tampered/fabricated documents.
Candidates may face criminal prosecution and/or debarment from examination for activities including:
Obtaining wrongful support for candidature.
Impersonation or procuring impersonation.
Submitting fabricated or tampered documents.
Providing incorrect or false information or suppressing material facts.
Resorting to unfair means during the examination process.
Using irrelevant or obscene content in submissions.
Misbehaving with examination hall staff or causing bodily harm.
Attempting or abetting any of the above activities.
Appointment & Joining Conditions
The appointment may be terminated by either side by serving one month’s notice or payment of one month’s salary in lieu of notice.
Where two or more candidates secure equal marks in the written examination, preference will be given to the candidate who has secured higher marks in MBBS.
A waiting list will also be maintained along with the select list and will remain valid for three months.
If a selected candidate fails to join within 15 days of the date of joining, the next candidate in merit may be invited to join.
If a Senior Resident/Tutor leaves the institution within three months of joining, the next candidate in merit may be offered the vacant position, subject to the terms and conditions.
Private Practice Restrictions
The selected doctors shall not be entitled to private practice or undertake simultaneous part-time/full-time jobs elsewhere and must serve in the institution on a full-time basis.
The advertised vacancies are subject to being vacant or likely to fall vacant. The competent authority reserves the right to withdraw/alter the number of vacancies or decide not to fill any vacancy at any stage of the selection process without assigning any reason.
The notification also states that the recruitment is without prejudice to any writ petition pending before any Hon’ble Court.
