The Islamic University of Science & Technology (IUST), Kashmir, through its Watson–Crick Centre for Molecular Medicine, has invited applications for engagement of a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under a DBT-sponsored research project. The recruitment notification is Advertisement/Notification No. 01 of 2026, dated 14 September 2026.

Project Details

The selected JRF will work on the DBT-sponsored research project titled:

“Exploring the Role of TGF-β Pseudoreceptor BAMBI-Driven Androgen Deprivation Therapy-Induced Muscle Wasting in Prostate Cancer Cachexia.”

Post and Salary

The recruitment is for 01 Junior Research Fellow (JRF).

The monthly remuneration will be:

1st & 2nd Year: ₹37,000 + 9% HRA per month

3rd Year: ₹42,000 + 9% HRA per month

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in any of the following subjects:

Biochemistry

Clinical Biochemistry

Biotechnology

Microbiology

Applicants must have secured at least 55% marks in the qualifying examination.

In addition, candidates must have qualified JRF/NET/GATE/SET or any other equivalent accredited examination, wherever applicable.

Desirable Experience

Preference may be given to candidates having research experience in areas such as:

Tissue culture

Transfection

Making stable cell lines

Age Limit

The prescribed maximum age limits are:

General/EWS: 28 years

OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 31 years

SC/ST/Differently Abled/Women: 33 years

Duration of Engagement

The JRF position is purely temporary and contractual. The engagement will continue for the duration of the project, subject to availability of funds and satisfactory performance.

The appointment will not create any right or claim for regular appointment in the University.

Selection Process

Only eligible and shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.
