NPCIL CA/CMA Intern Stipend (Salary)

Selected interns receive a monthly stipend rather than a salary, because the notification treats them as trainees. The stipend is Rs 20,000 per month. An additional Rs 5,000 per month is paid where accommodation is not available at the NPCIL Unit or HQ.

Particular Details
Monthly Stipend Rs 20,000 per month
Additional Amount Rs 5,000 per month if accommodation is not available at the Unit/HQ
Tenure 12 months
Extension Up to a further period not exceeding 12 months, case to case, subject to institute requirements and performance of the student

Facilities and Training Conditions

Accommodation: A suitable accommodation (single room or bare minimum accommodation) is provided at Units on payment of the normal license fee. If accommodation is not available at Units and HQ, Rs 5,000 per month is given in lieu of accommodation.

Transport and medical: Free site transportation subject to availability, and free OPD and first aid facility only.

Leave: 1 day of paid leave per month, which is 12 days for one year. For extensions, leave is pro-rata for the extended period. Stipend is deducted proportionately for absence other than admissible leave.

Working hours: 8 hours a day in general shift including a 1 hour lunch break, 5 days a week.

Injury compensation: NPCIL is liable to pay compensation for personal injury caused by accident arising out of and during training, as per the Employees’ Compensation Act, 1923.

Status: Interns are treated as trainees and labour-related laws applicable to employees do not apply to them. NPCIL is not obliged to offer employment after the training period.

Selection Process

The selection is based on Inter CA/Inter CMA marks followed by a virtual personal interview. Screening is done on the aggregate of marks, so only screened-in candidates are informed by e-mail about the further selection process.

Screening: Candidates are shortlisted for the personal interview in the ratio of 1:5, based on the aggregate marks obtained in the Inter CA/Inter CMA examination.

Personal Interview: Selection of interns is by personal interview, which candidates can attend in virtual mode at the respective Unit/Region.

Certificate Verification and Medical Examination: Candidates are engaged after qualifying the standard medical examination and after satisfactory verification of certificates.

Police and Character Verification: Interns are engaged based on the police verification certificate issued by District Police authorities, and a character/conduct certificate must be submitted from the concerned institution.

Tie-Breaking Criteria

Candidates with higher marks in the Inter CA/Inter CMA examination are placed higher in the merit list.

If both interview marks and Inter CA/Inter CMA marks are equal, the candidate senior in age is ranked higher.

If interview marks, Inter CA/Inter CMA marks and age are all the same, the merit list is prepared in alphabetical order of the name (first name, middle name and surname).

Waitlist

The waitlist is limited to the same number of candidates as the main select list and is valid for one year from the date of approval of the panel. It is operated only when a vacancy arises because a selected candidate does not join within the allowed time, or joins but resigns or dies within one year of joining, and a fresh panel is not available by then. It is not operated beyond one year from panel approval or after a new advertisement is notified, whichever is earlier.

Multiple Location Preference

Candidates who wish to apply for more than one location must mention their preference. They are shortlisted on CA/CMA marks only and are interviewed at one of the sites of their choice.
