A total of 25 vacancies have been announced for the post of Engineer (Contracts & Materials). These are distributed across UR, EWS, OBC, SC, and ST categories.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility conditions as on the last date of receipt of online applications (25-05-2026). Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply. All qualifications should be full-time from Universities/Institutions recognized and approved in India. SC/ST/PwBD candidates with passing marks in the qualifying degree are also eligible to apply.

 

All computations of age, experience requirement, and qualification will be done with reference to the last date of receipt of online applications. The category once filled in the online application form cannot be changed and no benefit of other category will be admissible later.

Experience Requirement

Experience Criteria	Details
Minimum Post-Qualification Experience	Minimum 4 years of post-qualification (BE/B.Tech) executive experience (including training period, if any) in the Power/Oil/Gas/Steel sector.
Mandatory Domain Experience	Out of the 4 years total experience, minimum 2 years’ experience should be in Contract/Purchase/Stores/Procurement or combination thereof.
Experience Relaxation for SC/ST	For SC/ST candidates, if prescribed experience is 3 to 5 years, the experience will be relaxed by a maximum of one year.

Age Limit :

The upper age limit for the post is 32 years as on the last date of receipt of online applications. Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as specified below. In no case shall the age exceed the relaxed limit applicable to the respective category.

Age relaxation of 10 years for PwBD candidates is in addition to SC/ST/OBC relaxation, wherever applicable.

Application Fee :

Candidates belonging to the General/EWS/OBC category are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500/-. SC/ST/PwBD category and female candidates need not pay the application fee. Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. Candidates are therefore requested to verify their eligibility criteria before paying the application fee.

 

Payment in Offline Mode: State Bank of India (SBI) has been authorized to collect the application fee in a specially opened account (A/C No. 30987919993) at CAG branch, New Delhi (Code: 09996), on behalf of NTPC. Candidates must approach the nearby SBI branch with a printout of the “pay-in-slip” available on the application portal.

Payment in Online Mode: Candidates may also pay the fee online through Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card. The online payment option will be available in the online application form.

Selection Process :

The selection process for NTPC Engineer (Contracts & Materials) Recruitment 2026 may comprise of multiple stages at the management’s discretion. Depending on the requirement, the management reserves the right to conduct a multi-stage selection process. Merely fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria does not bestow on the candidate the right to be shortlisted/called for written test/interview or to be considered for the selection process

How to Apply ?

Applications must be submitted online only through the NTPC careers portal at https://careers.ntpc.co.in or through the careers section at www.ntpc.co.in. No other means/mode of application shall be accepted. Candidates are required to possess a valid email ID. NTPC will not be responsible for bouncing back any email sent to the candidates. After applying online, the candidate is required to download the application slip generated by the system with a unique application number. No document is required to be sent to NTPC by post.

Candidates should ensure that all documents are uploaded completely while applying — applications with incomplete/insufficient documents are liable to be rejected/not considered for further process.

The applicant should ensure he/she fulfills the eligibility and other norms mentioned above, as on the specified dates, and that the particulars furnished are correct in all respects.

Consolidated Marksheet/Transcript/all semester marksheets clearly indicating aggregate % of marks in all semesters

Marks conversion formula from the University/Institute for conversion of marks in CGPA/CGPI/DGPA/CGI/CPI etc. into percentage (%)

Caste/Disability certificate as applicable (for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD/EWS candidates)

OBC-NCL certificate in central format for current financial year (FY 2026-27)

EWS candidates: current year Income & Asset certificate valid for FY 2026-27 based on income of FY 2025-26

Disability certificate in latest prescribed central Govt. format generated online through Swavalamban/UDID portal (clearly indicating type and percentage of disability)

All experience-related documents for each organization/company in chronological order — including Experience/Service certificate (as per NTPC prescribed sample format), Offer of Appointment/Appointment letter/Offer Letter + Confirmation/Absorption Letter/Order on completion of training, Joining Order/Letter, Role Assignment orders, Promotion orders, Transfer orders, Organization charts, 02 pay slips per every year for each organization, etc.
