Note:Â “1*” against SC in Mechanical Engineering denotes a carried-forward unfilled vacancy from a previous advertisement. Reservation for Persons with Benchmarked Disabilities (PwBD) is as per existing government guidelines; identified benchmarked disabilities are detailed separately for each stream in the official notification.
Candidates with a Petroleum Engineering qualification will be considered for all 9 vacancies in that stream.
Candidates with an Applied Petroleum Engineering qualification will be considered for only 7 of those 9 vacancies (UR-3, OBC-2, SC-1, EWS-1).

Qualifications must be approved/recognized by relevant statutory bodies (e.g. AIU, UGC, AICTE); Distance Learning/part-time qualifications are accepted only if similarly recognized.
Qualifications listed are “sacrosanct” – no equivalent qualification is accepted (for example, AMIE is not accepted where a Graduate Degree in Engineering is required).
CGPA/OGPA/CPI/DGPA or letter grades must be converted to a percentage as per the university/institute’s own conversion norms; a conversion certificate must be submitted at document verification.
Only candidates who have already acquired the qualification on or before the last date of application will be considered.
BE/B.Tech in Chemical Sciences and Technology will not be accepted for the Chemical Engineering stream.

ONGC states the overall package is approximately ₹26 lacs CTC.

Selection Process
Selection consists of three stages:
Computer Based Test (CBT)
Interview
Medical Fitness (as per ONGC Medical Examination of Employees Rules)
Only candidates who qualify all three stages will be issued an Offer of Appointment. CBT scores are used to shortlist candidates for interview in a 1:5 ratio per category (all candidates meeting the cut-off are shortlisted even if this exceeds the ratio). Shortlisted candidates may also be subjected to a Group Discussion, which is not of qualifying nature.

Qualifying Marks
CBT:Â General/EWS/OBC candidates need a minimum of 45%; SC/ST/PwBD candidates need a minimum of 40%.
Interview:Â General/EWS/OBC candidates need a minimum of 60% (9 out of 15 marks); SC/ST/PwBD candidates need a minimum of 40% (6 out of 15 marks).

The CBT is Multiple-Choice Question based, of 2 hours duration.
There is no negative marking.
PwBD candidates get compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour; PwBD candidates with Blindness or Locomotor disability who need a scribe may bring one, subject to a certificate from a designated government medical authority.

ONGC CBT Exam Centres 2026
The CBT will be conducted in 19 cities: Delhi (including NCR), Kolkata, Mumbai/Thane/Navi Mumbai/MMR, Chennai, Ahmedabad/Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Jaipur, Udaipur, Mohali, Nagpur, Bhopal, Bengaluru, Ernakulum, Raipur, Surat, Lucknow, Visakhapatnam, and Bhubaneswar.
Candidates must give a test-centre preference at the time of application; changes are not allowed later, though ONGC reserves the right to change, add, or reduce test cities/centres at its discretion.

How to Apply for ONGC Recruitment 2026
Visit www.ongcindia.com and register online between 17/07/2026 and 31/07/2026. No other mode of application is accepted.
Candidates may apply for only one Academic/Engineering Stream, based on their qualification.
Keep the required documents (listed above) ready before starting.
Pay the applicable registration fee online (where applicable).
Submit the application; no changes are allowed once submitted.
If multiple applications are submitted, only the latest one is considered final; older ones are rejected.
All correspondence will be through the registered email/mobile only. No physical admit card or interview call letter will be sent by post – candidates must download these from the ONGC website themselves.
Important Instructions
Furnishing wrong or false information will lead to disqualification at any stage, including after joining.
No change in mailing address, Academic/Engineering Stream, Test Centre, or mode of interview will be entertained once declared.
SC/ST/OBC candidates must submit caste certificates in the prescribed proforma at document verification; OBC (NCL) certificates must be issued on or after 01.04.2026.
PwBD candidates must submit a benchmarked disability certificate (Form V/VI/VII) at document verification.
EWS candidates must submit an Income and Asset Certificate at the time of interview, issued on or after 01.04.2026.
Candidates from PSU/Government service must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at document verification/interview.
Candidates should resign from current employment only after being declared medically fit by ONGC.
SC/ST/PwBD candidates attending CBT, and all candidates attending interviews from outside the test/interview city, will be reimbursed single second-class to-and-fro rail fare by the shortest route (or actual fare, whichever is less).
Selected candidates are liable to be posted anywhere in India or abroad.
Medical standards: complete or partial colour blindness and night blindness are not acceptable for any stream; myopia/hypermetropia within ±4.00 D (including cylinder) is acceptable.
Disputes are subject to Delhi jurisdiction only.
