Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) has invited applications for temporary contractual positions under the National Soil Mapping Programme (NSMP), operational through the Division of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST-Jammu. Recruitment Details
The recruitment is for Young Professional-II and Young Professional-I positions on a purely ad hoc and contractual basis.
1. Young Professional-II
Number of positions : 1
Consolidated Emoluments: ₹42,000 per month
Essential Qualification :
M.Sc. in Agriculture, Allied Subjects or Environmental Sciences with laboratory analytical work.
Required Experience :
Minimum one year of experience working in a soil laboratory or soil-based project, excluding experience gained as part of a degree programme.
Desirable Experience:
Experience in managing soil studies.
Experience in soil/plant analysis.
Experience in field work.
2. Young Professional-I
Number of positions: 3
Consolidated Emoluments : ₹30,000 per month
Essential Qualification :
M.Sc. in Agriculture, Allied Subjects or Environmental Sciences with laboratory analytical work.
Experience :
Experience of working in a soil laboratory or in a soil laboratory analysis-based project.

Interview Details
Eligible applicants can attend the interview as per the following schedule:
Date: 31 August 2026
Time: 11:00 AM
Venue: Directorate of Research, SKUAST-Jammu
TA/DA: No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
Candidates must bring all original documents at the time of the interview.
Nature and Duration of Engagement
The engagement is purely ad hoc, temporary and contractual. The initial appointment will be for six months and may be extended only if the candidate’s performance is satisfactory and funds/budget remain available.
The selected candidate will not have any legal right to claim regularization, permanent appointment, absorption or further contractual engagement in SKUAST-Jammu or the funding agency. The engagement is linked to the time-bound project and is co-terminus with it.
The engagement can end earlier if:
The project is terminated; or
The performance of the selected candidate is found unsatisfactory.
The University/Funding Agency also reserves the right to withdraw the advertised position at any stage without assigning a reason.
