School of Biotechnology
The School of Biotechnology, University of Jammu has invited applications for temporary positions under a DBT, Government of India-funded research project titled:
“Devising a platform for CRISPR-Cas9 mediated manipulation of apocarotenoid pathway in Saffron.”
The positions are purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.

1. Senior Project Associate – 01 Post
Essential Qualification :
Candidates must have either:
Master’s Degree in Biotechnology from a recognized University or equivalent, along with 4 years of experience in Research & Development in Industrial/Academic Institutions or Science & Technology Organisations; OR
Govt Boys Hostel Poonch Hiring 2026
Ph.D. in Biotechnology from a recognized University or equivalent.
Desirable Qualification
Experience in:
CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing
Plant molecular biology
Secondary metabolite pathway analysis
Plant tissue culture
Age Limit : Maximum 40 years
Monthly Emoluments : ₹42,000 per month + 18% HRA
2. Project Associate-II – 01 Post
Essential Qualification :
Master’s Degree in Biotechnology/Botany/Biochemistry/Microbiology from a recognized University or equivalent.
2 years of experience in Research & Development in Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations.
Desirable Qualification
Experience in:
Molecular biology
Gene editing
Plant tissue culture or related techniques
NET/GATE-qualified candidates will be preferred.
Age Limit : Maximum 35 years
Monthly Emoluments : ₹35,000 per month + 18% HRA for candidates selected through:
CSIR-UGC NET/JRF
UGC NET including lectureship (Assistant Professorship)
GATE
Selection through National-level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments/agencies/institutions.
For other eligible candidates:
₹28,000 per month + 18% HRA
3. Project Assistant – 01 Post
Essential Qualification :
B.Sc. with Biology/Botany/Biotechnology as major subjects.
Desirable Qualification
Experience in:
Laboratory work
Field sample collection
Handling laboratory instruments
Candidates should also be willing to travel for sample collection.
Age Limit
Maximum 35 years
Monthly Emoluments
₹20,000 per month + 18% HRA
Nature and Duration of Posts
The positions are initially offered for one year. The tenure may be extended further depending on the candidate’s performance and project requirements. The posts will remain co-terminus with the project, whichever is earlier.
