The University of Kashmir, Srinagar, has invited online applications from eligible candidates for engagement of Contractual Assistant Professors purely as an academic arrangement for the Autumn Session-2026 at North Campus, Baramulla.

The downloaded application form, duly completed in all respects and accompanied by the relevant supporting documents, must be submitted to the Office of the Dean, School of Engineering, Zakura, Srinagar.

Subjects and Eligibility

1. Computer Science & Engineering – North Campus

Candidates are required to possess the following qualifications:

Essential Qualification:

B.E./B.Tech and M.E./M.Tech in the relevant branch with First Class in either of the two degrees, as per AICTE regulations dated 1 March 2019.

Desirable Qualification:

Ph.D. in the relevant discipline.

Candidates holding a direct Ph.D. after B.E./B.Tech are also eligible, provided that the Ph.D. degree has been awarded in the relevant discipline by a recognized university through a proper process of registration, coursework, evaluation, etc., as prescribed by the university/institute.

The notice further states that such a Ph.D. should have been awarded by an institute of national importance, such as IITs, IISc, NITs, etc., duly recognized by the MHRD. In addition, the candidate should have obtained at least First Class at the Bachelor’s level in Engineering/Technology, as per AICTE regulations dated 1 March 2019.

Alternatively, a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline awarded by a recognized foreign university/institute ranked among the top 500 universities in the world at any time by any of the following ranking systems is also considered:

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)

Times Higher Education (THE)

Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai

This provision is stated to be as per UGC regulations dated 18 July 2018.

2. Engineering Physics – North Campus

Candidates must possess:

A Master’s Degree from a recognized university in the relevant subject/discipline with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade points.

NET/SET/SLET or Ph.D.

Application Fee

Applicants are required to pay the application fee through online mode only.

₹250 per application form

₹100 extra for every additional application form

Candidates applying for more than one subject/position must therefore pay the prescribed additional fee for each extra application.

Submission of Hard Copy

After submitting the online application, candidates must download the completed application form and submit its hard copy along with all relevant documents to:

Office of the Dean, School of Engineering, Zakura, Srinagar

The last date for submission of the hard copy is 25 August 2026.

Terms and Conditions

Candidates are advised to remain in touch with the concerned Dean of the School regarding the date, venue and time of the interview.

The selected candidates will be required to deposit an undertaking, duly sworn before a 1st Class Judicial Magistrate, confirming the conditions applicable to the engagement.

The engagement will be purely on a need basis for Academic Session-2026.

The engagement will terminate by the end of the academic session or when the position is filled on a substantive basis, whichever is earlier.

Selection for this need-based engagement will not confer any right upon the selected candidate to claim continuation or regularization.

The wages/remuneration of the appointees will be fixed on the basis of the qualification possessed by the candidate as on the cut-off/last date for submission of applications.

Selected candidates must agree to all the terms and conditions mentioned in the advertisement notice dated 18 August 2026, along with any other terms and conditions that the University may deem appropriate to implement from time to time, including discontinuation of the engagement.

The selected candidate must not be working in any Government or Semi-Government Department or any other institute, etc.
