55-year-old covid-19 woman dies at SKIMS, J&K toll 21

A 55-year-old woman from Urnhal area of south Kashmir, who had tested positive for COVID-19, died at the SKIMS Soura on Saturday, taking the overall death toll due to the infection in Jammu and Kashmir to 21.

Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, Professor Farooq Jan told that the woman was admitted to the hospitalโ€™s isolation facility and had underlying ailments including chest infection. โ€œShe had tested positive for the novel coronavirus earlier and died today,โ€ he said.

Urnhal area in terms of revenue falls with Anantnag district but comes under Medical block Qaimoh in neighboring Kulgam district, sources said.

With her death, the toll due to the coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir has risen to 21โ€”19 from Kashmir and 2 from Jammu division.
