Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Arrives in Jammu, to Assess Security Situation in Rajouri
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Jammu on Saturday and is scheduled to visit Rajouri, where a tragic blast claimed the lives of five army personnel during a gunfight in the Kandi forest area the day before.
According to an official, Rajnath Singh landed in Jammu today and was warmly received by Army Chief Manoj Pande and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
The purpose of Singh’s visit is to conduct a security assessment in Rajouri amidst the ongoing anti-militancy operation in the region.
On Friday, militants triggered a blast during a gunfight in the Kandi forest area, resulting in the death of five army personnel and leaving one officer injured.
Today, the army announced that one militant has been killed, while another is likely injured as the operation resumed in the Kandi forest area.
