Soldier, civilian injured in Rajouri gunfight, operation on
A massive anti-militancy operation is underway in the Gunda area of Rajouri district where militants carried out an attack, injuring a civilian, who is said to be a relative of Shaurya Chakra Awardee Parshotam Kumar Sharma, and a soldier on Monday.
Officials said that the security establishment believes that there are four heavily armed militants trapped. Unconfirmed reports also suggest that one militant has been killed, but there is no official confirmation so far.
Official sources said that at around 3:10 am early morning, militants attacked the house of a VDC member in the Gunda area, and the nearby army column retaliated, ensuing a gunfight.
In the initial exchange of fire, a civilian and a soldier were and they were immediately shifted to nearby hospital for treatment, they said. The injured civilian has been identified as Vijay Kumar, son of Badrinath from Parshotam’s family.
A top army officer said that militants had come intending to attack the house of VDC, which was successfully thwarted by the army by acting swiftly. “A major tragedy was averted,” he said.

Soldier injured in exchange of fire in Rajouri
An army trooper was injured in an exchange fire between militants and security forces in the Budhal area of the Khawas area of Rajouri in the wee hours on Monday.
Officials said that in wee hours around 3:30 am, militants, opened fire on a recently established army camp at Vill- Gunda.
The fire was retaliated by th,eresulting inresulting in a brief gunfight. During the the firefight,, one army personnel was injured, andand was immediately shifted to a a nearby hospital for advanced treatment, he said.
