J&K Food Department Appoints Class-IV Staff in Srinagar
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, has issued Government Order No. 77-JK (FCS&CA) of 2026 dated September 14, 2026, regarding the appointment of a candidate as Multitasking Staff (Class-IV) in the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, District Cadre Srinagar.
The appointment has been made under the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Appointment to Class-IV (Special Recruitment) Rules, 2020, following the selection process conducted through the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB).
Appointment of Multitasking Staff (Class-IV)
As per the government order, one candidate has been accorded temporary appointment as Multitasking Staff (Class-IV) in the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Kashmir, under the District Cadre Srinagar.
The appointment has been made against the selection list forwarded by the JKSSB and subsequent verification of the candidate’s character and antecedents.

The appointment will initially be temporary. The appointee will receive notional benefits from 29 October 2022, while regular benefits will be admissible from the actual date of joining.
Basis of Selection
The order refers to the recommendations and selection list issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) for Class-IV posts.
The selection process relates to the Class-IV vacancies in the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, including the District Cadre Srinagar.
The department had also undertaken the required character and antecedents verification through the concerned authorities before proceeding with the appointment.
Time Limit for Joining
The appointed candidate has been directed to report to the Director, Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Kashmir, within 21 days from the date of issuance of the appointment order.
Failure to join within the prescribed period may result in forfeiture of the appointment without any further notice, as per the conditions mentioned in the government order.

The appointee will be allowed to join only after producing the following original documents for verification:
Academic/Qualification Certificates
Matriculation/Date of Birth Certificate
Health Certificate issued by the concerned Chief Medical Officer of the District
Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority
Valid relevant Category Certificate, wherever applicable
Conditions of Appointment
The appointment is subject to several conditions prescribed by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
The appointment will remain subject to satisfactory verification of the candidate’s character and antecedents, educational qualifications, date of birth, domicile and category certificate.
The appointee is also required to submit an undertaking in the prescribed affidavit format.
The salary of the appointee will not be drawn or released until satisfactory reports regarding the genuineness of the qualification, date of birth, relevant category certificate and final character and antecedents verification are received from the concerned authorities.
Two-Year Probation
The appointee will remain on probation for a period of two years.
The appointment will also be governed by the provisions of the New Pension Scheme, as notified by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
Self-Employment and Government Loan Condition
If the candidate has taken a loan for self-employment from the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, District Industries Centre or District Employment & Counselling Centre, the candidate will be required to relinquish ownership/proprietorship of the concerned self-employment unit or enterprise before joining government service.
The appointee will also be required to repay the outstanding loan liability through suitable EMIs from salary, wherever applicable.
Seniority
The inter-se seniority of the appointee in the J&K Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (Subordinate) Service will be determined in accordance with the applicable J&K Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956.
Qualification-Related Condition
If, at any stage, it is found that the appointee possesses a higher qualification than the prescribed qualification for the post, the appointment may be liable to cancellation and the appointee may also face action under the applicable rules.
Verification of Certificates
The appointment will be subject to the outcome of any pending verification or proceedings before a competent court of law.
If any certificate produced by the appointee is subsequently found to be false, forged or fabricated, the appointment will be liable to cancellation ab-initio, meaning it may be treated as invalid from the beginning.
The appointee may also face further action under the applicable law.
Affidavit and Undertaking
The selected candidate is required to submit an affidavit declaring that the educational qualifications, date of birth, reserved category certificate and other particulars furnished during the recruitment process are genuine.
The candidate must also declare that there are no criminal proceedings pending against him before any court of law.
Any false statement or concealment of material facts may lead to cancellation of the appointment and disciplinary proceedings under law.
