JKBOSE National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme from Class-VIII (8th) students

SCHOLARSHIP NOTIFICATION

National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS)-inviting applications from Class-VIII (8th) students

It is notified for the information of aspiring candidates that under Centrally Sponsored Scheme Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education is going to conduct National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) examination 2025-26 for the students who have appeared in Class 8,h Annual Examination during the Session October-November, 2025 in the Kashmir Division/ Winter Zone areas of Jammu Division and arc going to appear in 8lh Annual Examination in March- April 2026 in Summer Zone areas of Jammu Division. The students must have a minimum percentage of 55% marks class VII examination for appearing in the selection test while a relaxation of 5% relaxation SC/ST students shall be provided. In addition,

1. the student must be a domicile of J&K, studying in a Govemment/ Govemment-aided/Local Body School only,

2. the overall family income should not exceed Rs.3.50 Lakh per annum,

3. the students who have already enrolled through one-time registration (OTR) module on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) with Aadhaar-seceded hank accounts can submit their OTR also (if applicable).

4. reservation will be provided to different categories of students as per the reservation policy of the U.T of J&K.

For availing the scholarship

1. A student must pass two tests i.e. Mental Aptitude Test(MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test(SAT) with at least 40% marks in aggregate (taken together for those two tests). For the SC/ST (STI & ST2) students, this cut off will be 32% marks.

2. The duration of Scholarship is four years and the student has to score at least 55% marks in Class VIII, 60% marks in class X [relaxable by 5% for SC/ST (STI & ST2) candidates] and clear promotion in the first attempt from class IX to class X and class XI to class XII.

Number of scholarships

1068 scholarships will be awarded to the students selected in order of merit and the amount of scholarship is ^12000.00 (Rupees twelve thousand only) per annum per student i.e. a total amount of ^48000.00 (Rupees forty-eight thousand) for each selected students from Class IX to XII.

Examination NMMSS Examination will comprise of two papers. Paper Test No. of Questions Max Marks Duration

Children with special needs will he given extra time as applicable under rules.

The application form in prescribed proforma and other detailed information about the scholarship scheme can be downloaded from JKBOSE website www.jkbose.nic.in.

The application forms duly attested by the Head of the Institution along with the requisite documents (i.e. class VII marks certificate, income certificate and category certificate, if applicable) must reach the office of the concerned Chief Education Officer (Designated District Nodal Officer, NMMS Scheme) by or before 15th of January 2026.

The Concerned Chief Education Officers (DNOs) shall prepare the database of the candidates in the prescribed excel format(available on JKBOSE website) and submit the Application Forms along with requisite documents and database of their respective to CDR Wing, New Campus, Bernina, Srinagar I Rehari Colony, Jammu-Tawi within seven days of the closing date of this notification.
