JKPSC General instructions for Written Exam for Various Posts

The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has issued general instructions for candidates appearing in the objective-type written examination for various posts in the Health & Medical Education Department. The notice is dated 04 May 2026.

The written examination is scheduled to be held on 17 May 2026 (Sunday). On page 1, it also mentions posts like Assistant Professor (Neuro Surgery, Urology, Medical Oncology) and Tutor at SKIMS, with exam timing 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.

Admit cards will be available on 11 May 2026 on the JKPSC website. Candidates need to log in, download, and print their admit cards. If unable to download, they must contact the commission two days before the exam with proof of application and fee.

Candidates are advised to take a printout early to avoid last-minute issues. Their candidature will be provisional, and any misrepresentation or fraud will lead to cancellation and disciplinary action.

Important Instructions (from page 2 & 3)

Candidates must reach the exam centre at least 1.5 hours before the exam (around 8:30 AM). Entry will be closed 30 minutes before the exam starts.

They should be seated 20 minutes before the exam begins and must carry their admit card along with a valid ID proof (Aadhaar, PAN, Driving License, Passport).

Candidates must not write anything on the admit card and should carefully check for any discrepancies.

Electronic items like mobile phones, smart watches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, or any unauthorized material are strictly prohibited. If found, the candidate will be disqualified.

If a candidate appears at a wrong centre, their answer sheet will not be evaluated and candidature will be cancelled.

Candidates must bring their own blue/black ball pen, transparent pouch, and transparent board. No borrowing is allowed.

They are not allowed to leave the exam hall before completion of full exam time (2 hours).


OMR & Exam Pattern (page 3)

The exam will be multiple choice (MCQ) with 4 options (A, B, C, D). Candidates must darken the correct option on the OMR sheet using blue/black pen.

The oval must be properly filled without damaging the sheet.


Negative Marking

There will be negative marking:

  • 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer
  • Multiple answers will be treated as wrong
  • No penalty for unanswered questions

Other Important Points

Candidates must make their own travel and stay arrangements (no TA/DA).

If any discrepancy is found in the question paper or answers, candidates can submit a written representation within 3 days after the exam.

Candidates are advised to check traffic/weather conditions beforehand and follow all instructions strictly.
