1265 station masters to be recruited nationwide; last date to apply Nov 25: Railway ministry

New Delhi, Oct 27: Candidates aspiring to become station masters can apply online from October 27 to November 25, 2026, as the Indian Railways has initiated the recruitment process for 1,265 station master posts across the country.

“Indian Railways has opened a new avenue of employment for graduate candidates with the commencement of online applications for Station Master recruitment under Centralised Employment Notice (No. 08/2026),” a press statement issued by the railway ministry said on Tuesday.

It added, “The recruitment reflects Indian Railways’ continued efforts to provide career opportunities to eligible candidates while strengthening its operational workforce.”

The ministry also announced that station master recruitments will be notified separately from 2026 onwards. The dedicated recruitment process will provide candidates with a specific notification covering eligibility requirements, examination procedures and vacancy distribution for the post.

“The RRB-wise vacancy distribution provided under CEN 08/2026 indicates 1,265 vacancies across various Railway Recruitment Boards and zones. The opportunities extend across multiple Railway zones, enabling eligible graduates to compete for positions in different parts of the country,” the ministry said.

The online application window opened on October 27 and will close on November 25, 2026.

Advising aspiring candidates to review the detailed eligibility conditions, vacancy distribution and application instructions before submitting their forms, the ministry said that candidates can access the detailed recruitment notification, eligibility requirements, examination syllabus, application instructions and RRB-wise vacancy distribution through links available on the Railway Recruitment Boards’ websites and the online application portal.–(PTI)
