4th Cloudburst In Pahalgam Area Triggers Flash Flood, Bijbehara-Kuller Road Shut

Anantnag , Aug 14: Road connectivity on the Bijbehara-Kuller-Pahalgam_ route has been closed after another cloudburst struck the area on Friday evening.

Officials told that the 4th cloudburst this season hit Nallah Awoora in Pahalgam, triggering a flash flood that washed away the temporary road at Awoora.

Due to the sudden surge in water, the makeshift road constructed at Awoora was completely damaged.

As a result, vehicular movement on the Bijbehara-Kuller-Pahalgam_ stretch has been suspended as a precautionary measure.

Authorities have advised commuters to avoid travel on the affected route until restoration work is completed.

Police and SDRF teams have been mobilized to assess the damage and ensure the safety of people living in low-lying areas along the nallah.

No loss of life or property has been reported so far.

Restoration work is expected to begin once water levels recede.(GNS)
