Army Havaldar Martyred
An Army Havaldar of 25 Rashtriya Rifles attained martyrdom in a landmine explosion which occurred during area domination patrol in general area of Thanedar Tejri in Sabjian sector of Poonch district today.
The martyr has been identified as Havaldar V Subbaiah Varikunta, who was leading the patrol party when he stepped over the mine leading to the explosion.
The Havaldar was shifted to hospital by his colleagues but he was declared dead.
The Nagrota-based White Knight Corps wrote on X: ” GOC Corps and all ranks pay solemn tribute to the braveheart Havaldar V Subbaiah Varikunta of 25 RR, who made the supreme sacrifice during an area domination patrol in the general area of Thanedar Tekri in Poonch following a mine blast..
“Our deepest condolences to the bereaved family. We stand steadfastly with them in this hour of grief”.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid tribute to Havildar V Subbaiah Varikunta, who laid down his life in the line of duty.
“I salute the supreme sacrifice of our Army braveheart Havildar V Subbaiah Varikunta. His valour and sacrifice will never be forgotten. The entire nation stands firmly with the family of the martyr in this hour of grief,” the Lieutenant Governor said .
