‘Article 370 Abrogation Marked Beginning of New Era for J&K, Ladakh: PM Modi’
Says Constitutional Rights, Development and Opportunities Expanded Since August 5, 2019
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35(A) seven years ago marked the beginning of a decisive new chapter in the journey of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, asserting that the move has transformed the lives of people in both regions.
In a post on X, accessed by the news agency JKNS, the Prime Minister said that since August 5, 2019, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have witnessed wide-ranging progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, entrepreneurship and sports.
He said that women and members of marginalised communities, who had been denied their constitutional rights for decades, have been empowered through the full application of the Constitution of India.
Prime Minister Modi said this year’s August 5 holds added significance as the country is commemorating the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee. He said Dr. Mookerjee’s lifelong commitment to national unity continues to inspire generations and that his vision found historic fulfilment on August 5, 2019.
Reaffirming the Centre’s commitment, the Prime Minister said the Government remains dedicated to the continued progress of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh while ensuring that every citizen has the opportunity to dream big, achieve success and contribute towards building a Viksit Bharat.
