Congress MLAs Display Banners Seeking CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s Resignation In J&K Assembly
Protest Erupts As Assembly Proceedings Begin on 4th Day; MLAs Raise Allegations Over Electoral Process
Srinagar, Sept 25: Congress MLAs on Friday displayed banners inside the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar as proceedings of the House began.
The protesting MLAs as per news agency , raised slogans and alleged that the electoral process had been undermined, with some members raising the slogan “Democracy has been murdered.”
The protest comes amid the Congress’s nationwide campaign seeking the removal of Kumar from the post of Chief Election Commissioner. The party has alleged irregularities in electoral roll-related decisions and has called for an independent review.
The J&K Assembly is currently holding its sixth session, scheduled from September 21 to September 30, according to the official Assembly portal. (JKNS)
